Could anyone bringing bits for the bring & buy section of DFR2 bring along some M toe clips (and straps?) if you have them please?!? Think I'll want to take the new Team KP Crisps bike on the ride if it's good to go but it has no clips. Doesn't have to be anything special for the day. I'll bring along the 1 spare set I have but they don't fit my current Lyotard pedals and won't want to swap the ones on my Pro over. Ta very much! D F E O A R T K H 2 ! ! ! ! ! ! I have some p toe clips on olympic 64 pedals. I will bring them.

Don't fret Stella, you'll be fine!
Some of last year's DFR participants were in their late 70s, and didn't get off to push up the hills!
Jem reckons it's easier this year so I'm sure you'll have no problem.
Regards,
Sprockit

I'm watching the weather forecast anxiously. Currently looking quite cool and cloudy, with a chance of showers, particularly in the morning. So probably more comfortable cycling weather than last year, although less suited to posing around outside pubs? See www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2639205

Posing around inside pubs will be fine however.

Hi All, Here is the link to the GPSies site where I just entered the route for Saturday. I think Garmin people can download it? The other routes I might have shown could be slightly different, so I have labelled this DFR Route 2.0 for clarity (haha) www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=fjicuefzdktdjtwhThere are a couple of short cuts if necessary, but this is the most picturesque route. For those who don't want to do the full ride, I can suggest ways to return with less traffic etc I will have paper OS maps printed for the day with route on.

I'd even pose in the pouring rain.

Is Route 2.0 the one we're doing then Jem? Looks fine to me. Notice it's now 24 miles, at which point to we stop for pub / pubs?

What a very handy site Jem, like the way it sends direct to the Garmin.

Yes, route 2.0. The pub is approx half way but there a few more along the route if people need to re-fill bottles etc. the extra few miles are to bring it back on a different route, through a very nice area, that on a sunny day looks a bit like Tuscany ( slight over exaggeration but not totally fictional) Perhaps we ought to see how people feel at the half way & how the weather is - we could shorten if needs be.

Looks like I'm going to have a very wet drive up.It's currently p'ing down here. I've never put this tent up before,so I'm going to have fun if the rain continues. Never mind,I can get as wet inside this evening! Cheers, Pete.

Pete. It was pretty heavy here but has just about stopped now. I'll help you up with the tent. It's not great camping weather but looks set to brighten a bit tomorrow & better for Sunday morning when packing away.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I would be out on the road today, doing my own DFR2 'remotely' as it were, but I have other commitments all day. Looking forward to seeing lots of pics and reading lots of stories later.

I'd just like to add my thanks to everyone for making today another brilliant day out. Photobucket is just reeling under the photo onslaught and once it's recovered I'll stick them on here.

Great to see everyone today - and also good to see the new faces.
Thanks to Jem for his arrangements with the site, and for planning the route.
Lovely sets of pics from Scott and Goldie.
Bendo and Triitout: your names came up today in various conversations, so despite the distances and time differences, consider yourselves well and truly part of DFR2!
Lewis: that beer has just gone down very well, thank you!
Cheers,
Sprockit

Hi All, Well, what a great day/weekend that was! Just so good to see everyone and chat and ride. Some amazing bikes, that I can't even start to list for fear of missing one out. Wonderful stuff! I love the photo's above and on Scott's Flickr. I only took a couple. One is the pub we went to on the evenings - very nice. Probably the best bike rally in the world? Without doubt!

I'd like to thank everyone who attended for making it such a great weekend! Especially Jem and his wife for,not only their huge efforts in getting it all together, but with their invaluable help with my erection,of my tent that is. I couldn't have got it up without you both. Great photos, capturing the day wonderfully.Hope our overseas members enjoy them. Cheers, Pete.
