Hi, does anyone know where I can find a bottom bracket spindle? I am rebuilding an Aerospace for a friend and have sourced the easy to find 6003 bearings but am having real difficulty finding a new spindle. the existing one has been butchered (not by me!). its 123mm long with the 2 x circlip grooves. Many thanks in advance

Hi Kevan, To put it simply, I don't have an answer for you, but Cusqueno, who is a member here has a blog where he has a few posts about bb's and spindles etc. He even had a link on this forum (here) to a replacement spindle but the ebay link has now gone, due to age of post. Check out his blog here
Sorry I can't be of more help. Others may be able to give more specific directions.

Aah, the old bottom bracket spindle question. Basically you can't get them. I made a thread about my tales trying to sort one out. I went for a prestine threadless BB in the end.

Good choice with that stoatie. As I think you know,I fitted the self same so I could use a more suitable chainset for my aging legs! Cheers, Pete.

I like the long cage Crane RD, and the Lambert seat post bolt (with hanger). I see he has the Lambert porthole chainset too. I wonder where the frame and wheels are?

I went for a prestine threadless BB in the end. many thanks for all the help here. What length of Prestine did you go for? Think I may go for one of these although I am taking the spindle to a machine shop to see if they can take a minimal amount off the non drive side of the spindle to square it back up again (basically who ever took it out originally hit the spindle to hard with a hammer - as a result the end of the spindle is angled or slanted).
Once again, many thanks for all the help and suggestions. BTW, the owner wants to change the wheels and groupset (not incl. the brake calipers - but incl. the levers). Think its a Shimano 600 set, it all works, the wheels have Shimano hubs (with good tyres) - will have to check the brand of rims. Would they sell (for a nominal amount) on here?
Cheers

I went for the 119mm one. They use a JIS taper and the cranks that I fitted were ISO tapered, so they stick out about 4mm more than normal. To be fair to whoever took your one out before, you only have to look at the spindle funny and the high grade cheese steel will deform.

Kevan - Shimano 600 is nice looking kit , so I'd guess someone here might be interested. Thanks for offering it up. Where are you based? In fact, I wasn't interested before but I just talked myself in to being a little bit interested!!

Hi Sooper8,
I am based in Redditch - West Midlands. Think it would be best to photo and properly identify all the parts: Ft and Rr derailleur, Chain Set, Freewheel, Levers and Wheels/Tyres. Will do this tomorrow (Monday) and post a link here
Cheers,
Kevan

Ha, Ha. The steel does seem to be a little more mild than normal. Many thanks.
