Fitted a White bottom bracket spindle to my Sport/Pro yesterday. This spindle came as part of a sealed bearing BB with alloy screw in cups in which the bearings sit. They are smaller than the Viscount bearings but the spindle is fortunately 17mm diameter. The BB assembly has alloy collars outboard of the bearings, secured by grub screws, to fix the spindle in place side-to-side. I fitted standard Viscount size bearings and used the collars once I was happy with the spindle's position. In a change from my brute force methods, I used a sash cramp to seat the bearings and spindle. Edit: Whyte make bikes, White Industries make components. Here's a nice titanium BB on eBay. I didn't pay anything near £100 for mine (not Ti). pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=191239387120

Picture of the sash cramp. Should have said that the White spindle is 119mm and has a hole right through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatall Attachments:

Afraid I can't remember how much it cost. It was a well-used eBay purchase that I've had for some time. The bearings it came with seem rusted solid.

That's a neat solution, John. I think together us Viscount owners will find a solution to salvage future Viscount butchering.
