Has anyone managed to get hold of a good quality reproductions of the "winged v" headtube badge - the one from the early '80's with a cyclist superimposed in front of a white V? I've made a Sunday night resolution to get one with restoring my Aerospace 600AX frame, and although it's not strictly accurate, I'd like to stick one of these bad boys on up front...

That would be this one: It's a really striking image, and in my view superior to the Viscount Shield badge. I peeled this off my head tube before having my frame sandblasted and powder coated, and I'm also now looking around to see if I can get a new set of stickers printed (including the "triple champions" laurel wreath sticker): and of course the chrome-molybdenum badge: From what others on this forum have said, the best provider may be The Image Works ( www.bike-stickers.com/contact.htm), but other possibilities might be NamesonFrames ( www.namesonframes.co.uk/shop.html) Pegatin Pro stickers ( toptube.pegatin.com/) Bicycle stickers ( www.bicyclestickers.co.uk/) - who do a "standard" Viscount Aerospace set, but also advertise a custom design/print service. I know the Image Works come very highly recommended, but does anyone have any experience of these other providers? Attachments:

I agree these are great, but....It's a real pity they ever did a metal head tube badge.

The group icon of the Flickr Viscount group is a picture of the metal head badge from a Taiwanese Tulsa G.L. I used to own. As you say, it's a pity that this wasn't used on their other bikes as it seems a good quality badge.

Well that's the two actually - I'll need the laurel wreath as well... I think the Image Works are Busaste's favourite decal supplier? Let me know if you get as far as asking for quotes dracco, I'm really keen to get this job crossed off the list.

They were doing Viscount stickers for me when no one would entertain the idea!

Hmmmm. I've just received a quotation from them of about £50 (sharp intake of breath) to obtain a full set of stickers (including the badges shown above). The problem with restoring what seems to be a low volume model is that the "VISCOUNT" stickers for the front and seat tubes aren't the standard ones that you can buy, so the price involves a complete setup from scratch.
If I decide to bite the bullet on this, I can request some additional copies of the badges (like the winged V and "triple Champs" ones), if anyone's interested.

I would love a winged V and triple champs badge. I'm also after the red block VISCOUNT lettering for the downtube, the lettering for the seat tube with the letters stacked above one another (if that makes sense) AND THE "aerospace 600AX for the top tube - just in case they're in the set that Image Works are making up. Let me know how much they'd charge if you decide to go for it...

OK: I'll see what the additional cost of a couple of extra copies of the smaller badges is. My guess is that it won't make a significant extra cost, and that it's the design setup that's responsible for the relatively high initial price. - The lettering on my major tube stickers is black, not red and these would include a vertically stacked "VISCOUNT" seat-tube: I can ask if just changing the colour for a copy would be that difficult. As for the "600AX"......well, unfortunately I don't have one (yet!).

If it's any help I can recreate the artwork then all the printer has to do is press print

If you're still up for it dracco I will let you know exactly wht I need once I've looked the frame over. I've emailed Bob Jackson to get a quote for restoring the frame - woo hoo!

Hi. I wonder if anyone else has noticed these bar end plug stickers on eBay? They are not like anything I've ever seen on a Viscount but they are cute (old Viscounts tended to use plastic screw-in plugs, later models had those nice shiny 'Viscount' plus winged rider ones - which are rare now). So, if you want to pimp your ride ... The seller only seems to offer various plug stickers at present - perhaps they could be persuaded to branch out into other small Viscount stickers??

I saw those end plug stickers. I have my doubts they would stick and stay stuck.
So yeah happy to professionally re-draw any original artwork. let me know what you need.
I'll be tempted to put some of the designs on T-shirts, would anyone be interested in that?

I've completed my first decal reproduction with more on the drawing board.
This one is from my 600ex frame and I've placed it on Redbubble so I can immediately get hold of some cheap stickers. I'm planning on branding my new retro water bottle with a few.
It took surprising long to reproduce this font accurately but I think I have done it justice.
Have a look here

I have a genuine Viscount water bottle - see here viscountandlambert.boards.net/post/5614 I could take some better photos if it would help with your retro bottle. I think there would be quite a few takers for repro water bottles, or stickers for them. J

I've ordered a plain cycling cap and I'm going to create an iron on transfer for it with this font. Hopefully in time for Eroica.
The Lorel Leaf 1981 design is now finished. I'll post it up in a bit once I'm back on my laptop. Cusqueno; yes please, post up a pic and I'll see what I can do. I have a contact at a vinyl printing firm I could tap up for some prints. Interestingly they also make resign badges!

Here are the decals from my 600EX - I'd guess these are the same as on your own ride Siegeworks. As you can see, they all need replacing. Chainstays Front of seat tube decal Side of seat tube decal. Down tube Laurel wreath Top tube "600EX 1981 Bike of the Year"

That looks superb! I can imagine lots of things that can be made hugely better by putting one of these on. By the way, are you at Eroica?

All looking good!
I've recentky turned my mind to water bottles and just plan to get some small standard Viscount stickers made up to put on a plain bottle and replace as required.
Wouldn't be anything special but would match my Viscount pump.
Has anyone come across readily available decals of the shield headbadge with gold surround? Pretty sure I've only seen silver.

Fresh from L'Eroica I'm back on the decals. I ordered some of the stickers I created and they arrived today. Happily my water bottle now looks the part!

Have a feeling I saw one on Cusqueno's flickr photos. David, Gem, I don't know if you ever got to the bottom of the metal head badge question, but this eBay item looks to have one. The bike itself doesn't look like anything special, so £80 looks a lot for just a head badge, unless someone knows a small-scale casting/press works (or jeweller?) who can also do enamelling that needs a template to work from. I hope you both got home safely today, and many thanks once again, both for matching me up with my 'new' Grand Sport and for setting up yesterday's get-together.
