I dropped a note to Simon at Mousley House Farm thanking him for his hospitality. He said we'd been a nice group of people to deal with, and that he'd be very happy to see us again next year. Two nights from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th June on a basic tent pitch is currently showing at £34 on their booking site. Should I start a thread about a DFR5 date now so that people can place their bids well in advance to avoid Eroica, Tour de France, offspring's concerts, honeymoons etc.? Potential visitors to Britain from USA, Australia or other colonies countries might also like to take a look in the hope that we can create IDFRV (Fifth International Death Fork Rally).

What a great weekend, super to see the (much of) the Viscount team and their lovely bicycles again. Thanks to Robt for the organisation, and glad you dropped a note to Simon, he was an excellent host. My technical ability will be stretched trying to add photos, here goes.

As I was testing the route, I noticed the signs for Haseley Knob and Mousley End and thought, "well, at least I'll be riding with a group of mature adults who won't be sniggering inside like me", but I was wrong... 20160709_155933 by Scott Williams, on Flickr Thanks for posting your photos, Scott, Dave and Rona. No word from Stella on her trip home yet - I hope you're not still trying to find your way back to Euston!

Adult, maybe not, funny for 5 mins, definitely .

Thanks to all who posted pictures of DFR4! I really enjoyed looking at them and they provided some compensation for being unable to attend. My son's gig at the Alsager Music Festival went really well - despite the shocking weather(!) - and we had a memorable time. If there is a god and he/her/entity/? is reading this, please can you fix it so that I can attend the next DFR. Pretty please After 2.5 years in the wilderness due to a leg injury caused by a negligent chiropractor (I only went in with a stiff back...) I am finally returning to something like my old self. It feels good to be out cycling again and building up to some decent mileages. Phew... I couldn't help but laugh at the 'quirky' road signs in one of Jem's pictures. They got me thinking about this one which is in the Shetlands (no, it is not a bit of cheeky Photoshop abuse, it's a real place!): Location for DFR5? Happy cycling! Steve

Busaste, many of the folks at DFR4 commented that it was a shame that your diary prevented you from joining us this year. The joys of parenthood, I guess, though I believe you also hold title to be the 'father' of this forum. Everyone will be pleased to read that you're back on your bike again.
Apparently, Sooper8 has checked the formal constitution of this forum (I believe he has the only copy), and he assures me that the role of DFR organiser is now a two-year appointment. So it looks as though I might have the honour of planning DFR5, unless anyone would like to stage a bloodless coup (feel free!).
I'm not sure that I'd be able to plan a group trip to Shetland, but I would be very happy to act as facilitator for another weekend based in Mousley House Farm.
Do you want to set the date now? If you're confident you can keep your diary clear for 23rd-25th June, we can save £10 on the weekend pitch hire compared to the July rates. That weekend does clash with Glastonbury, though, so you might need to keep the weekend free in case your son's band gets the call.
In the meantime, would you be interested in DFR4.5 in Hertfordshire on either of the first two weekends of October? See thread.

Very flat, Shetland. Almost free of inclines. Makes up for it with the doleful incessant wind. Which island is Twatt on?

John, I'm not sure. There has been very little news of the whereabouts of the former Secretary of State for Justice since 13th July.

- Well, I did suggest that next year we could have the rally in Yorkshire, and I'd certainly be happy to organise one based around the Harrogate area.
But (whisper it) please bear in mind that this part of the country is rather plentifully supplied with aitch-eye-ell-ell-ess.

It's pretty flat around York, but as far as I know there are no forum members in that area.

Indeed, and there are some nice flattish circuits along the minor roads in the general area around Harrogate, Wetherby, York, Boroughbridge and Ripon.

Harrogate works for me, as my family are in North Leeds. I can't do 17th/18th June (our cub camp, also probably Eroica).
Dracco, the DFR5 baton has passed to you. Do we need to start a new thread?
See also the DFR4.5 thread. Currently planned for Saturday 1st October 2016. Hertford to Potters Bar and back. Cusqueno, Stevevw & me so far.
