Jem,
Thanks for the pointers.
1. They park a big Elddis 6-berth caravan on the site for the season, so I guess they must have some way of providing a stable base for it. Maybe some jacking pads for the bigger motorhomes? I can make enquiries if needed. Getting off the field if it's very wet might be a challenge - Simon's LandRover? 2. Yes, I guess Saturday and Sunday is a 2-night booking, so that should work. I was thinking we'd strike camp at noon on Sunday and find somewhere else to ride/eat/drink if folks aren't in a hurry to get home, but I hadn't considered anyone staying on for Sunday night. 3. There isn't a dedicated car park, so I'd need to make enquiries about where cars go if they are more than a single pitch can accommodate. 4. Thanks for the confirmation. 5. Whoa there! Interesting to see how a cyclist looks from a horse rider's perspective, though. 6. I'll do some more research on campsites in the area, but I think the route as sketched is suitable/manageable, with plenty of fields, sheep, an historic ruined castle, an NT country house and so many pubs that I lost count by half way round. Googling brings up a Camping and Caravanning club location at Westwood, Coventry, about a mile off the draft route near Burton Green. It turns out to be their national HQ (but no camping!).
As you say, a date and estimated numbers will be useful.

Rob, what you are doing is great to see. The 3 weekends suggested looking good for me.
The 4th/5th June may clash with the 100k London Nightrider my friends at work are looking for me to join them in, not signed up yet, depends if any places left. Will keep you informed.

I carried out another test of the route in the sunshine today with a friend. The Case is Altered and The Brickmakers Arms both passed their assessments with flying colours. Beers in both pubs and the sausage and onion baguette in The Brickmakers all proved very suitable for DFR participants.
I'm currently leaning towards booking the weekend of 11/12 June for no other reason than the campsite fees would be £10 lower per pitch than for the July dates. (Unless, of course, any current contributors have discovered a diary clash on that weekend). I don't know quite how 'price sensitive' our fellow Viscounters are, but we'd have done all we can to keep costs down.
11/12 June is the weekend immediately before Eroica, so DFR4.x could act as a shakedown run before the hillier Derbyshire 100-miler, or would two consecutive bike weekends cause domestic unrest?

Jem, that sounds like a good idea if you're able to.
Shall I knock up a 'flyer' with outline details so far and likely costs for the June weekend, with an indication that we are still flexible for the July dates if someone identifies another event in June that we'd clash with?
I'll leave the 'official' DFR4 poster artwork to the professionals when we've set a date.

Scott, Great to see your mileage and fitness has improved so much since the original DFR - brilliant!
Only 30 miles at Eroica? Like me, you did 55 last year.
I'll be at Eroica, but will have to decide my mileage nearer the time. I had a heart attack in November, and because I'm a cyclist, a stent was fitted - rather than revert to a sedentary, non-exertive lifestyle - and this will allow me to keep pedalling. I was back on my bike within two weeks - turned up at docs wearing hi-viz and with bike pump in hand, and he didn't tell me not to ride! I've already managed a one mile solid uphill without any problem, but they say 'listen to your body', so that's what I do and will continue to do.

11/12 will be fine for me. I'll probably be down just for the day - the closeness of the station is appealing, but I might be able to prevail on Mrs C to allow me a camping pass as well.

Sorry to come to this tread so late. I'm in France first 2 weekends, so 9 / 10th July would be the only weekend I can make. I'd be perfectly happy to bring a tent instead of the Motorhome. I felt like a bit of a big softie compared to you lot last year :-)

So, are any regular DFR riders already booked elsewhere for 9/10 July?
Pete, have you managed to track down your Soap Box Derby organisers for their Championships date yet?
If we're all good for 9/10 July, I'll book some pitches at Mousely House farm campsite for that weekend. If others are compromised for that weekend, we might have to make some uncomfortable choices.

Hi dudes!! Great organisational work every one. Many thanks. I can do the 9th July no problem but the 10th July may be a bit tricky. To cut a long story short, I manage my son's rock/power pop band AVISO and we have applied for a music festival slot on the 10th July. No guarantee that we will get picked of course but you never know... If all goes well I hope AVISO get an evening slot on the 10th July so I can do DFR 4 in the day and then shoot off to the gig. Ha ha, how 'rock and roll' does that sound?! If I can't make the 10th July because the festival gig slot is in the day, then at least I will be there for the 9th July. THERE IS NO WAY I AM MISSING DFR 4 BECAUSE OF WORK COMMITMENTS. NEVER AGAIN WILL THAT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Speaking of my son's band AVISO, any chance of a quick shameless plug? You never know, some of you might like their music! You can see/hear AVISO on youtube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCflSc-twT62t1JObiSPhmlgAnd, see what's happening on Facebook: www.facebook.com/aviso2015/?ref=bookmarksOkay, no more plugs! Cheers Steve
