Hi dudes!! Great organisational work every one. Many thanks. I can do the 9th July no problem but the 10th July may be a bit tricky. To cut a long story short, I manage my son's rock/power pop band AVISO and we have applied for a music festival slot on the 10th July. No guarantee that we will get picked of course but you never know... If all goes well I hope AVISO get an evening slot on the 10th July so I can do DFR 4 in the day and then shoot off to the gig. Ha ha, how 'rock and roll' does that sound?! If I can't make the 10th July because the festival gig slot is in the day, then at least I will be there for the 9th July. THERE IS NO WAY I AM MISSING DFR 4 BECAUSE OF WORK COMMITMENTS. NEVER AGAIN WILL THAT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Speaking of my son's band AVISO, any chance of a quick shameless plug? You never know, some of you might like their music! You can see/hear AVISO on youtube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCflSc-twT62t1JObiSPhmlgAnd, see what's happening on Facebook: www.facebook.com/aviso2015/?ref=bookmarksOkay, no more plugs! Cheers Steve Doh! I forgot to say, my son Tom is the drummer. With a manager like me I fear the band are doomed - a life of poverty and obscurity beckons...

Very sorry to not have been around. Just popping in to confirm that 9/10th of July is fine by me, too. Thanks, Jem, for getting in touch. As I said, I've already planned the DFR weekend for the rest of my life. :-)

Great to have you back, Stella! OK, now that the gang's all here, this is the plan: Resisting the acknowledged attraction of Coniston Water and the L'Ancienne ride, DFR4 will be on the weekend of Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July 2016 in Warwickshire. Hooray!!!Campsite/base: Mousely House Farm, Case Lane, Hatton, CV35 7JG Owner: Simon Hughes. Tel:07443 475434 (0900-1800hrs, e-mail only outside office hours, please) Pitch price per night, includes: 2 Adults, tent, caravan or motorhome plus awning. | High Season 1/7/16 - 4/9/16 | Non-Electric pitch | £20 per night* | 2 Adults plus electric hook-up | £25 per night* | Pup tent on shared pitch | £5 per night | Extra adult | £3 per night | Children 3-15 yrs | £3 per night | Dogs | £1 per night | Visitors (max 4 per camping unit) | £3 per person |
*A minimum booking of 2 nights applies at the weekend for regular camping. So a 'minimum' campsite booking will be 2 x £20 = £40 for a non-electric pitch for two nights for up to two people. Pitches can only be reserved on receipt of full payment. Early booking is recommended to secure your pitch. If we confirm numbers early, Simon will group us together. Full refund given for cancellations with 7 days or more notice prior to date of arrival for normal camping. No refund will given after this time. Alternative dates will be offered if available. As an alternative, Luxury 4-person Bell tents (@£90/night), Retro 2-berth Caravans (@£55/night) and an Eldiss 6-Berth Caravan (@90/night) are also available for hire. Single night bookings can be made for these 'glamping' options.Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr
Mousely House Farm also offer self-catering barn cottages if you're planning to stay a little longer or prefer the luxury of solid walls. Simon is keen to know who is going to be on the site during any weekend, which is comforting for Child Protection purposes, hence the 'visitor' charges. I propose to make an initial booking for two pitches in my name, and I will put a 4-man tent on each of them for the Friday and Saturday nights. I'm happy to offer spaces in these tents on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone who can only make it for one night or who is happy to share a tent with up to three other people in the name of economy. Post here or PM me to reserve a place. I will discuss with Simon how we manage any changes of personnel between Friday and Saturday evenings. As an experiment, I'll offer up this 'register' of who's planning to come, the size of their party and whether you've booked and paid yet. You should (might) be able to copy and add to it if you're familiar with the way spreadsheets work: Pitch no. | Lead name | Persons | Booked & paid? | 1. | RobT | 2(+) | 02/03/2016 | 2. | RobT | 2(+) | 02/03/2016 | 3. |

For details of the route for the main Saturday ride, see posts above. Approx. 25 miles and possibly the same number of pubs. A Sunday ride to Stratford-upon-Avon is a possibility for those interested. Maybe after the Sprockit-led 'Sparrowfart' ride has returned for breakfast. So find the shed keys, and get your steeds tuned, polished and ready for the Viscount & Lambert Bikes Forum ride of the year! Looking forward to seeing you all, Rob.

Great stuff Rob. I will sort out my bookings asap. Just thought I'd reply and say thanks for the work on this.
So, main 'inclusive' ride for as many riders as possible on the Saturday. Gathering 11am, for 20-30 minutes circling the car park , ride at 11.30?
Then Sunday could be a different ride of some kind?
Looking forward to it very much!

I've just booked two tent pitches for up to four people each. Simon is fine with that, so long as I can confirm who the people will be in advance. Please let me know if you want one of these places to put your head down on Friday or Saturday night. Simon asked me to encourage you all to confirm your reservations (by making payment in full) as soon as you are able to. The camping season is about to begin, and bookings are already coming in from next weekend right through the summer with some weekends sold out already, so " Book early to avoid disappointment"! Simon suggests that you mention the Viscount cycles group when booking so that he can gather us into a group of pitches. Each pitch includes space to park a car if required (2 cars maximum per pitch). Earliest arrival on any booked day is 2:00pm (latest is 7:00 pm, so please let Simon and me know if you're going to struggle to get away from work/home on Friday 8th in order to make that time). Depart before 1200 noon (11:00 am for anyone who chooses the 'Glamping' options) if you're not booked in for the following evening. I'll also need to identify and book in any day visitors (Max, Dracco?), but I can co-ordinate that nearer the time. I will need to know if you'll want to park a car on site if you're only coming for the day, so we can plan parking spaces. Here comes Summer! Though it was snowing here earlier today... Rob.

Also big thank you for organising. Somehow the Moosely Farm rings a bell. Did we consider it in the past? Looks fab.
I'll be staying two nights again.
Not sure if Jem is able to help me out with a tent and sleeping bag again? Very much looking forward to see you all.

Cheers, Rob.
My wrist isn't there yet. Lots of physio to get back to normal (painless) range of movement. I'm getting there. Should be all good by the time of the rally.
Tent wise: well, you saw the coffin (just kidding, Jem) I stayed in last year, so I'm not really demanding. The second one you have there is perfectly fine for me. :-)
Will be really nice to see you all again. Hope I'll be less tired and cranky.
Oh, and I'll likely be on my own. If not, I'll let you know. Two nights.

I'll be there Rob,Friday and Saturday nights. A friend may do the ride with us on her Tony Oliver Tourer, but I think she has enough sense to sleep at home as she only lives about 1/2 hour away. Not paid yet, will get around to it soon, may use my tent or sleep in the car if wet. Thanks for your hard work. Cheers, Pete.

I just booked for 2 nights. Looking forward to see everyone.
Just a quick note: we need to make sure that we meet everyone, who doesn't stay, outside the site, as 1. they'd have to pay £3 to visit and 2. we don't know who might show up, as in previous years, some of the regulars aren't posting on here, or are members, but still enjoy coming along. We cannot possibly predict who'll turn up.

Well this all looks very promising! Whilst I've been absent from the boards of late rest assured that DFRs are never far from my mind.
We're off to Le second best gathering of bicycles from 4th - 10th July. I think we fly back (into Bristol) on the 9th and will be back to work on the 11th so don't expect me/us sadly.
However, should Pete come back from his first night pub recce with a plus one don't be too surprised.

Sadly it looks as though you may have to Pete - not that there was any conning involved last year! I will check my flight times however and if there's time, 100 odd miles in my legs, and a few 'spare' quid in my pocket who knows...

Just tried to book tickets, btw., but it seems it's 'too' far ahead for East Midland Trains. Tut Stella, If you're planning to come up the Chiltern Line from London Marylebone(MYB) to Warwick Parkway(WRP) or Hatton(HTN)*, try booking directly at the Chiltern Railways website, or at the Marylebone ticket office. The National Rail enquiries website is currently only offering tickets up to 4th July, possibly awaiting the formal publication of the full summer timetable, and EM Trains probably access the same system. Since you wouldn't be allowed to put your bike onto a peak time train anyway, you can buy a standard off-peak return ticket for £29.00 (NB, an off-peak single is £28.90, so your return trip is only 10p!). This would allow you to use Friday afternoon trains up to the 1540 departure out of Marylebone on the 8th July (which arrives into WRP at 1750 ) or from the 1915 departure out of MYB (arr. WRP 2042 - we'll see you in the pub!), as all trains departing MYB between 4pm and 7pm on weekdays are classed as 'peak' services. All the Saturday and Sunday services are classed as off-peak, so you can take any train back to MYB over the weekend with an off-peak return ticket. *Getting a ticket to Hatton would allow you to avoid part of the 5 mile uphill ride from WRP to the campsite, but you would need to change at WRP and wait for an (infrequent) local service to take you to Hatton. You're probably better planning to ride from WRP up the nearby Grand Union canal towpath, pausing for breath to enjoy the views as you pedal up the flight of Hatton Locks, then coming off the canal at the Tom o'the Wood pub and riding into the campsite through Rowington. I guess it will depend on the weather on the day! Let's assume we'll all be bathed in glorious sunshine by the 8th July but, if not, I'm planning to provide a shuttle service around the local stations with a bike rack on the roof of the car if the weather conditions are anything worse than mildly moist. There are alternative Virgin and London Midland train services on the West Coast Main Line from Euston, to either Coventry or Berkswell stations, but these drop you further from the campsite than you'd need to travel across London to get from Euston to Marylebone, so the Chiltern services from MYB are my recommendation for anyone travelling by train from London. I'm happy to help with anyone's train-related or other travel queries for DFR4. Sooper8, Stella, Raymondo and Sprockit are already booked in. Don't leave it too late! (Please accept my apologies if I have displayed my train-spotting tendencies in this post!) Rob
