What is that industrial looking backdrop ? It's a boiler house (back up electricity - diesel powered )for local hospital. It used to have a big brick chimney until a few years back and they replaced it with these.

I think they're both looking smashing. Thank you for sharing. It was a beautiful day. I'm hoping to go out on my red flash tomorrow, but first need to fix the rear puncture. 3rd one now. :-( And my blue one definitely needs a shorter stem to be ridden comfortably, plus it's come sort of out--no idea why.

Great pics and a perfect day for it. I like the straight bars on your wife's bike, must be tempting to borrow it for the pub!

I'm going insane looking at the sun in the uk while it just rains and is miserably cold in ny. Certainly the reverse of what I've heard about uk weather. Glad you're out enjoying!

Sleeveless and in shorts. It was wonderful. So sorry, Triitout, that you're still suffering in the cold.

No need for apologies, keep them coming! It's great to see someone love their bike and ride it all the time, not treat it like a museum piece. b

We've had some lovely autumn weather this week. 31 degrees last two days in fact! Positively warm! Everyone's out in it wearing not much at all, thinking it might be the last they see before winter. We're behaving like Poms! Good enough excuse for a picture of a bike everyone's seen lots already! b

If you were proper POM's you'd be complaining it's too hot.

Love the picture of that perspective. I'm planning to take one of myself, riding. The red flash has basically become my daily ride. It's just far too comfy to keep it in the shed. It'll change once I've got my other two bikes done (the Indy and the rally bike). The blue Sport and the Pro need a full make-over.

Plenty of time to get them sorted. Then it's decision time, which goes to DFR2,some bikes will be disappointed!!!! Cheers, Pete.

Bendo - I love your style. The little details on your bikes really make them a cut above.
In that shot alone, I'm loving the leather covers on the toe clips and matching straps, the period bell and then the cork (effect?) grips that go with the bar bag.
Stylish, cool, and as you once said, a real 'high performance gentlemen's town bike' (or something very similar to that?)

Getting two bikes ready costs a lot. Although I'm going to be a very busy Stella as I'm soon putting an order in for rims, hubs, spokes and whatnot to get building. And I'm starting with the wheels of my own bikes. lol

Went for a lovely 20-mile ride with a friend: Potters Bar and back. Bit hilly for my liking--I really can't do many of them (whinge), but the weather has been too gorgeous of late. Attachments:

Did you make a pilgrimage to the second / final Viscount/Trusty factory at Potters Bar, after it left Bilston? John

If anyone has the address, I'll do that next time as we've already agreed to do the 'loop' again. And with pictures in front of the factory, of course!
Pete: and I raised it (for me). My thighs were burning after a few hills. Not steep, but bloody long inclines. I'm so not cut out for that. Fat cow!

Well done anyway!!! I always hated long grinding hills, even more so now the first rush of youth has sped off and left me behind! Usually it's the sweat in the eyes that gets me before the legs give out. Cheers, Pete.

One would think that a life time of riding bikes will make strong legs. Apparently that's not the case.

I used to hate hills, the cure was driving to France for the weekend and grinding up Alpe D'Huez.

Climbing from the River Dee crossing and climbing all the way to Mold,I know it's only 1100 feet or so,but, on a fully loaded prewar tandem, with an 8 year old daughter stoking,or not,it's hellish. When we got to our destination, I found a large Christmas cake,a very heavy cast iron frying pan in the panniers,Joy!!!! Cheers, Pete.

Makes want to sit at the kerb and cry just reading about it. I've really never been one to push myself. A bit, perhaps, but that's all. Muttered under my breath that I'll just scrap the idea of touring. lol

Didn't go for a deliberate ride, but ended up cycling for two hours or so. The weather's been wonderful in London and I really enjoyed riding the blue Sport for a change. Still trying to 'mold' the 2nd hand Brooks to my arse, and I will win! Eventually. Did the new handlebar tape yesterday and am quite pleased with the outcome.

Looking very nice Stella. I really need a daily Viscount, I can't use my Sport all the time as I'm afraid Steve will tell me off for getting it dirty.

I mainly use the red flash and now the blue one again. The shorter stem has made all the difference. And I threw the parts into the parts washer. Gee, the front mech needed it badly. I've also discovered (doing that) that the chain is proper old-school, which probably means it has been on the bike for a loooooooong time, and hardly used.
When I get the Indy ready, it'll be my everyday bike, and the other three (incl. the rally bike) will be for rides and touring (at some point).
Guess you should look out for a nice steel frame.

Yeah, keeping an eye open for a 23.5 inch frame. Probably doesn't have to be an Aerosport, something with rack and mudguard bosses might be better. Or, if the fabled 23 inch Metro turns up...
