None taken!!! I must say that,as we're going from Ledbury, it would be cider in the bottle,if my bike had bottle holders fitted. I agree,I'm not over the hill yet,I hope it's not in sight yet. I can always get off and hobble up any I can't manage. Looking forward to seeing you all. Is Lewis bringing any cider with him? Cheers, Pete. Oh I suppose so.

Yes, I will drop them a line now Thanks for finding out. It looks like I will now be accompanied by three non-riders (and non-drivers). Is there somewhere reasonably near the site to buy food or should they bring a picnic?

I join kickstandman in wishing everyone attending a great time with great weather! I like to think of this as Worldwide DFR 5 to be celebrated by everyone with a rideable Viscount. I'll be out there riding my Viscounts in solidarity!
Cheers to all, Michael

Is there somewhere reasonably near the site to buy food or should they bring a picnic? John - the nearest place, ledbury, is probably too far to walk for fun. So maybe stop off for supplies en route. We've got lots of chairs here & tea making facilities so no problem for the basics.

Just a quick word after returning from DFR5. Once again, a wonderful ride, and a superb weekend in great company. Great route planning and leading by Rob, thank you. We thought of our overseas members (and those closer to home) who couldn't make it, but were there with us in spirit with and lifted a glass to them - some folk lifted many glasses containing many drinks over the course of the weekend ...no names being mentioned. As those were there know, I left the camp site Sunday morning to visit a local car boot sale. I thought there might be some bicycle things and as soon as I entered I saw this Triumph mixte and fully expected that that would be about all there was , except perhaps some plastic pedals and drinks bottles. Aerospace by Sooper 8, on Flickr But two rows on from that, low and behold a Viscount!! And not only that, but an Aerospace, and to top it all, in quite good condition & all original except pedals and back block (that had been changed for very close cluster for racing or masochism?), oh, and the saddle which was an upgrade on the original and added some value to the bike in my opinion (and looked great) It put a smile on my face and I spoke to the seller for a while. In my opinion he wanted just a bit too much for it and I care for my marriage too much to even have gotten into serious discussion about knocking the price down and returning home with it. But I have the guys contact details if anyone is interested. It looked in very good condition- see pics I just thought it was so bizarre to have found it after attending a Viscount rally. I have never seen one before at a car boot. I did try and do a salesman job on the guy behind me who was looking at it, but he was totally overwhelmed by all the info I gave him and started to think I was a 'plant' I think. Oh, I almost forgot to post this up....it is a very short, but very very rare video footage of the one of the Viscount/ KP Crisps race team from 1984. All kitted out in his jersey and cap getting ready for a stage of the Milk Race possibly? As you can see, the riders back then were a little more 'chunky' than the modern athletes of today. Great weekend. Thanks for all you people who attended. The ride out did last year which I thought was great. That picture in the hut is fantastic considering the trouble you had to go to get it. It just shows in photography a little luck is needed. The picture from the balcony at the beginning was inspired, you are clever. The pro at the bootie was the same as my pro in spec but a little better in condition. Great saddle. It is ironic that this was there on the weekend of the ride. Big thanks again , great route Rob. Cheers Lesley and Ray

So good to see everyone yesterday. Thanks to all for making the effort. Great choice of campsite, Jem. Do we need to start a thread now on the date for next years' DFR6, to avoid so many diary clashes and reduce the number of people whose company we sorely missed? And possibly a DFR5.5 North West in the Autumn, so we can make sure that Steve can join us? A selection of my pics... Fabulous time and gorgeous ride in excellent company. Thank you, Rob, again, for organising. So good to see everyone again, have food and drink, even in the pouring rain, in the porch. We had a good laugh, as always.
It felt it bit weird to be recuded in size (group) as a few couldn't make it, know you were missed. Hopefully, one day, we get all on board, even the guys from overseas. It would be a Grant Get Together and the Rally of the Rallies. :-)
I'll try to upload pics later ... if I can get my phone to do what I'd like it to do.
PS: I think I like the group pic with the waving better, although both are great.

Wonderful day and fabulous ride in great company - as ever!
Thanks to Rob and Jem for their efforts in organising things.
I agree with Rob that a date needs to be set much earlier so people can avoid clashes of arrangements.
No pictures or videos from me yet due to technical issues, so I'm working on that. Many of Rob's pictures are similar to mine. Love Jem's picture of the group in the beer garden shelter, but where's Pete? I came up with a theory that he was finishing his pint in the pub, but Rob's picture disproves said theory!
That ford would have been nice to cool off in if the day had been scorching hot, and I agree with Cusqueno that it's a first for a DFR. Well captured Rob.
Roll on DFR6!

That Triumph is a magnificent looking machine, real character. It reminds me of another 3-speed I liked in the past though that one has a nice dynamo. I forget if this other one did. I think so but not those colours.
I guess, I've got a photo account where I will start posting extra pictures I have.

Beer race, more likely!
A really great day out on some marvellous quiet lanes amid rolling English countryside (but fortunately, not TOO rolling). I particularly liked the way the organisers arranged for the rain to abate for the ride itself. A better bunch of cycling companions it would be difficult to imagine.
Lewis, I hope you enjoyed the reprise on Sunday: I left at the crack of dawn to take advantage of empty motorways on the journey home (only 3.5 hours to Harrogate, without exceeding the speed limit (much).
