These are a big deal because of?? How they tour?? Because they are so strong?? I know a few years ago I looked into it and Seattle which is a biking mecca and off the top of my head, Rivendell and Grant Peterson are back in that area. minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/bik/5349346632.htmlIronically, I met a Trucker in fact, at an REI (an outdoors type of store here, camping, bikes, clothing, you name it, bear spray even) store and he was an avid cyclist and he kept an LHT on his diesel and would bike around at stops. So anyone and Americans may know this better, is the big deal that it can go off road or what? They certainly do command a pretty penny at that. My trucking fan may have loved it but I don't know if it would be so much greater than some alternatives. I don't mean it in a negative way, it was or is, a sort of bike cult in the Upper Northwest USA, but some of the products a bit on the pricey end for me. I thought a cool idea was with a struggling company called Heron, still around, American company but they basically produce Raleigh-like bikes and are totally inspired by them. P.S. please see my "Falcon Black Diamond" thread as well under "other bikes" in case anyone has any comment and I'm saying this so it won't get lost. That may intrigue me more than this subject.

Big load carriers. Good long-distance touring bikes. There's a really interesting blog by a couple of Brits who are cycling back to the UK from Japan, on these: see pedallingwest.wordpress.com/

Surly has a bit of a fanatic following, the LHT is a very nice touring, hauling-stuff-around bike, no doubt, but I think their used value is in part due to good marketing and dedicated owners.
hmmm, sound familiar? In the time I've been on this forum, Viscount prices on eBay seem to have nearly doubled. Even the average Craigslist price is quite a bit higher, it seems.
