I've just won this on eBay UK for £14.95 inc p&p. It's said to be a White 'Phantom' re badged. If it's like other White BBs I've seen, it will be usable on a Viscount with cartridge bearings and may soon be gracing my latest bike. My first titanium component! Attachments:

Result! 121mm, 90 grammes of titanium with 17mm diameter shoulders for the bearings and alloy rings fixed with grub screws for location. Should be able to make any chain line work with any width of shell! Attachments:

Great news! How does that weight compare with steel?

What a great idea! I checked the White Industries web site and (for their BB) they specify a 6903 Sealed bearing. Viscount uses a 6003 bearing which has the same ID, but different OD. A white BB should work great in a Viscount, so long as you use the 6003 bearing. I think I will try it!

Great find!
Viscount's are really going up in the world. First it was Campag hubs, now titanium spindles...It'll be gold plating for frames next(oh, nearly forget, they already did that).
The circlip grooves and the integrity of the WI BB spindle reminded me that there is nothing wrong with those grooves in principle. Their presence does not weaken the spindle. The circlip grooves have been blamed for failure of Viscount's own BB spindle when in reality it's simply been down to good old material failure/use.
There'll be no 'death spindle' legend on my watch!
