I know some people on the forum have been interested in bar end shifters but deterred by the price. There are some SunTour ones on eBay.com at present that might not turn out to be too expensive. Unfortunately for UK residents they are in the US, which means that postage is around £14 - about the same as the current price. Quite a lot of Viscounts, particularly in the US, seem to turn up with bar end shifters - suggesting they might have been fitted as original equipment? I would guess these might well have beenSunTour - surely Campy would have been too expensive and I am not sure if Shimano made them in the seventies? I have Campy barcons fitted to my winter/wet weather Viscount. These came with another Aerospace Viscount but were probably not original.

Thank you, John for this post. I just picked up a set locally off of CL, but the set of three is intriguing. How about that Campy set of friction shift bar ends for $350 or thereabouts?
Thanks! Frank
