When discussing Lotus bikes last week, it was easy enough to find some information on the company per a wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_%28bicycles%29There really should be one on Viscount. I find this little bit of information on Middlemores saddles: And for the record, Moulton have their own entry as well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moulton_Bicycle , hardly surprising. So, perhaps, we can scope other "Cycling company" wikipedia articles and some day, post an entry. Off-hand, I do not find Viscount, Trusty, Lambert listed under United Kingdom bicycle manufacturer's, defunct or still existing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cycle_manufacturers_of_the_United_Kingdom Some other notable names are seemingly missing as well, I mean how can Claude Butler not be on there? Perhaps, this could be a project even made in this very forum.

Lambert does have an entry on ClassicRendezvous, which is fairly accurate until the end when it talks about Viscounts when it is brief and a bit vague (Yamaha was the US distributer and never owned the parent company). The second sentence is wrong - Clive Marriott was not related to the hotel chain. But a Wikipedia entry would be cool.

+1 , there should be a Wiki page on Trusty/Lambert/Viscount bikes.
If we can't muster that, and show some of the best examples of these great bikes, who will?

The second sentence is wrong - Clive Marriott was not related to the hotel chain. This goes to show that an internet myth is hard to shake - I 'recall' this 'false fact' thinking it to be true, and I even think I picked that up from a comment/reply on your blog Cusqueno?

Yes, I think I was guilty of sloppy thinking and haven't corrected it. Later the son of the person in charge of distribution for Yamaha approached me and he told me that Clive Marriott made his money completely separately from the hotel chain and was not connected to it. I will send some of his text to you (sooper8) by PM - I haven't asked his permission to post it publicly.

The write up at Sheldon Brown's website by Brown and Tim McNamara: sheldonbrown.com/lambert.htmlI always thought this was a good write up, there is a link at the page for something at Cycles de Oro too who apparently are Classic Rendez Vous as of now. The Brown McNamara article is well worth reading. The bike Cult article on overhauling the BB linked from above article too, I know everyone has seen that too: bikecult.com/works/parts/bbViscount.html

Good idea about Wiki. Viscount has an interesting story as well as being cool bikes.
