Looks a bargain for someone - reduced from £40. Crankset nothing special and bike built with the view that ladies can't manage two chain wheels - i.e. no FD. A bit strange on a Touring bike. Viscount seemed to have put the word 'touring' into a number of models without them ever being remotely 'tour' like (unless touring in Holland, with no racks ,and with a credit card counts?)

Everyone had stronger legs in the day,and could manage anything on a 52/42 to 14/28,or 24 if not a "touring" bike! Cheers, Pete.

English Racers, I recall quite clearly, were black, each and every one, with fenders, and a Sturmey Archer three speed hub on 26 x 1 3/8" tires. Skinny, compared to the balloon tired Huffys, Schwinns and J.C.Higgins we rode. Three speeds. Flats, uphills, downhills.

Die hards always rode fixed of course.I rode fixed myself for years, mainly because I couldn't afford gears and 2 brakes! As soon as I could, I got gears. Riding around North Wales on fixed is not fun. Cheers, Pete.
