Check this out. There are lots of membership goodies and the £15 seems quite reasonable.

When you drive across the California desert there are few things to see; Joshua trees, Salt Bush, Creosote brush, rock formations and electrical transmission towers (called pylons in other places). In my 37 years of commuting to a desert work location (134 miles a day, half of which was in the desert.) I came to appreciate the simple functional elegance of electrical transmission towers. Somehow I never suspected that somewhere in this big world, such a club might exist. I should have suspected such as we often have British train spotters amidst American railroad fans visiting the Tehachapi Loop. If someone will travel halfway around the world to see a train go in a circle, then why not an electrical pylon club? I am tempted to join as it would make a great conversation piece; then again, maybe I should not. www.visittehachapi.com/play/555-tehachapi-loop.html#.VfmdpZZ0yUkwww.trainweb.org/brettrw/maps/loop.htmlCheers Jim

I can sort of see the interest in pylons...but £15? I'd want my own pylon for that kind of money. (although postage alone would come to somewhat more than that?)

I didn't set out to visit this event, but I was at a ploughing competition on Sunday - some might think it odd. And don't ask where I was on Saturday - a few would certainly think it odd...
