G2 standing for 'go to' bike Finally I fixed this other Deore AX frame up, for a general purpose 'nipping down the shops' kind of bike. And after Bendo's gentle nudges toward giving my other Deore a try without the racks on, it seemed like a good time to experiment. I will see if I can get my Klixfix (if that is the name of the system?) on these bars and then it will be 100% done. The 3 chain rings had already gone down to 2 by the time I got it, and the Deore deers head rear mech had failed too, so it was never an original like my other one. So, a dig around in the bits box; a pair of straight-ish bars plus levers, & saddle from the Viking Hosteller and a brand new chain and it's done. I love the brooks saddle - it having been broken in by person or persons unknown over many years ago. It really is like a comfy hammock. Well, it rides like a beauty! No one could resist the charms of this fun bike. I have an excess of gears though and feel like it really should just be a 5 speed. It is pretty light too. EDIT-it's hidden in the shrub but the Pepsi bell has found it's natural home. Obviously designed for a kids bike, the fitting took a bit of convincing to fit round these bars. Fun and bike just like a kid having a go at it. The Pepsi bell is the icing on the cake! Enjoy!
