Well, here's a tale of woe....
I was my way back to camp site after grocery shopping in Ledbury.
I'd secured my combi lock round seat post as usual. I got on and felt the lock make contact with the very top of my right thigh but so insignificant as to ignore it.
About half mile later , down a slight incline, out of nowhere my pedalling halts with an awful crunchy/thudding whack.
Dismounted to find that my long, tube mounted Primus SL pump ( original to the bike - and a superb pump to boot) had been knocked out of place by the lock, I presumed ( that had in turn been moved by the back of my thigh) and the head of it had dropped down between the join of the down tube and the smallest chain wheel.
It was wedged in pretty tight and not a nice sight.
Well, the long and the short of it is more than just a busted pump....it has very slightly indented the tube ( not particularly visible but is definitely there when you rub a finger over it. )
That is a tough old pump to be sure!
I managed to get a bump in my car a few months back and couldn't have really cared less. This however is a different story, and really justifies the crying emoji symbol if we have one on here?
My wife tried to console me with Buddhist wisdom about impermanence of beauty and holding on to things and letting go of things etc. Intellectually I understand but I'm not enlightened enough to 'accept' that all things must pass and that my Deore has little significance in the vastness of the eternal and vast universe.
On the positive side the sad day was slightly brightened by a fortuitous find of a yellow plum tree bearing sweet , beautiful fruit.
