Mmmmm,Campag Delta brakes. Might not stop you that well, but they sure are lovely looking! Excellent photos,I wish those used by people on ebay were that clear. Cheers, Pete.

The brakes, as they came from Campy, were in desperate need of improvement. My solution was to swap in mid-90's Record pad holders and Kool Stop extended pads. The springs are overly heavy, so I have to really get into the brake, but as long as I remember to do that, I can stop quite well indeed.
I have no idea why that wasn't done from the start. Bike engineers are a bit of a strange lot, it seems.

Nice bike Frank. Red and white definitely has that racy sports car feeling.

Lovely bike. What age is it? Tubing? And do Schwinn still make the Paramount model? Back in the day there were some lovely fillet brazed Paramounts. b

Hi bendo, It's a 1986 Paramount, built for me when I worked at Schwinn's Chicago HQ, back when the family still owned their brand. Tubing is True Temper double butted chrome moly. Schwinn moved Paramount production to a new facility in Wisconsin - the Paramount Design Group - in the early 80's, and this bike is one of theirs. An interesting note is that one of the brother's bought it from the company - this is now Waterford Precision Cycles. Schwinn has produced Paramounts inconsistently since changing hands, using several different sources. After a long hiatus, you can now get a new Paramount, and it's built by Richard Schwinn and company at Waterford. ParamountLots of pics hereFrank
