Hi gang, new guy, here, and happy to find this forum. I'm in the midst of re-habbing my mid-seventies Aerospace GP, and found that my handlebars are bent and cracked. Good luck finding a drop with a 27.9mm clamp diameter, am I right? So, I figured I'd change out the stem to a modern sized clamp diameter, but now I discover that the headset ID is an obsolete French size of 22.2mm (7/8''), and I can't find a stem that size. Does anyone have a line on a correct handlebar for sale, or have any advice for shimming a modern 25.4mm or 26mm bar out to the 27.9mm clamp? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, never mind. I took another, more accurate measurement, and did some additional research. It seems, and correct me if I'm wrong, 7/8" / 22.2 IS standard (French being 22.0mm) and that's what I measured, with my vernier calipers, on my steerer tube. So, I believe I answered my own question. A new stem and handlebar, it is.
