Twisty, welcome to the forum! I like your post title. You must have half expected someone to cry out "Noooo, keep it as it is!!! Please" It looks to be in really great shape for what would be a 40 year old bike. I'd guess it's hardly been riden in all that time. Are you close to the sea shore? I wish we could find something like that in a thrift store here...

I live in North Carolina, USA...right on the beach. Yeah, I'm fully expecting to hear some purists freak out about making it a fixed gear...oh well! Just stripped it down a little today. No front wheel, chain rusted solid. Thinking of buying a wheelset and hoping everything will magically line up...could happen!!

I did a single speed conversion on my sons Aerospace Pro - a later version of yours. I left the double on the front and used a 16 tooth (I think..? or 14..I can't recall) on the back and it did indeed magically line up without hassle. There are a couple of very nice fixed wheel conversions on here and it would be great to see your project in progress, with some pics etc.

I will definitely keep this thread updated with progress pics when I get around to the conversion. Money isn't growing on trees at the moment, but I've got some good ideas!! I've looked pretty thoroughly through the forum and online but haven't come across any similar Lamberts...is this model rare or something??...Would love to see some pics of similar frames!!
Anyone feel free to post pics on this thread!!!

Hey and welcome to the forum. Such a lovely profile picture.
And I'll be the one who spoils the mood by saying that this bike shouldn't be turned into a fixie, simply because it's original, rare, and the transfers are in good nick. I'm not really a purist; it's only when I see a bike like this, that I'd rather keep it as it is. I'm also planning a fixed-gear conversion, but that'll be a project for me as I've already got quite a few original Viscounts (and one Lambert) in my fleet. :-)
Saying that, I'm glad we've got another person appreciating those beautiful bikes/frames, and as long as they're rolling on the streets of this world (or other planets), I'm happy. Spread the Viscount love!

Just by looking at the head tube, I'd think it's a 21/21.5 inch frame.

The smallest frame made was a 19 1/2" and judging by the head tube not being able to be made any shorter, I'd say that's what you've got. I've got originals and also done the single speed conversion but make sure you can fit on that small frame before you make it a "rider". You probably don't have the type III fork which is the safest of the bunch so beware of riding it with that earlier version death fork. Definitely a cool display/collectible bike at the least.

That's the color scheme of my c.73 Lambert.... shown in my avatar photo, although mine was a 15 speed. Careful with that fork! Likely a generation one.

Hi twisty, welcome to the forum. That's quite a find you've got there, even without the front wheel. As for the conversion, I say go for it. The trick is, never do anything that's irreversible. Like Stell said, those decals are in amazing nick. +1 about checking out that fork. The sexiest (and only real) possible single-speed replacement for Lambert porthole rings would be this: Correct BCD as well. IMHO of course! b

I'm with Stella - Lamberts are rare, and Lamberts loaded down with original parts like your is are even rarer. It'll look nice as a single speed bike (because Aerospace frames are quite "clean", with few braze ons) - but give it a whirl as built first. And if you do convert it, hang on to the parts!
