Whoops I put a bid on it yesterday expecting it to go much higher. I've got a feeling that it might be a bit small but never mind hey. Now to work out how to sneak it in without the other half recognising.

A good buy. Might be worth asking where the original chain wheel went. There was a flurry of interest early on and I thought it would go higher. Well done. Could be an occasion for a distracting present for the OH?

Yeah it had gone up a lot higher then someone retracted their bid. I've spoken to the guy to arrange collection and told him I wouldn't be down to Bournemouth for a couple of weeks, but my mum lives down there and she could possibly pick it up and he said he will drop it off for me.

I think for now I'll swap the wheels over on to the sport, because as much as I love the tubulars they can be a right pain when I get a puncture on a long audax ride.

That looks awesome. I love the metallic pink accents. Have you tried over the top description to throw off your OH? Our lass just glazes over if I start naming components

I went with "You know how I'm fed up of getting puncture's and needed new wheels. Well I bought a pair they were only 50 quid." Oh btw the rest of the bike was thrown in with them.

That's a really lovely one, Stoatie. Hope you'll be riding this to this year's DFR. I'll possibly bring my GP. Or, if I manage to get the Lambert build ... Or the Viscoutess, or ... who knows?
Anyway, congratulations on that purchase. Now you need the porthole crankset and you're set. :-)

Stella, you need to change your signature. Not sure if you're grown up yet, but you're now definitely a bike mechanic.

Stoatie: can you take proper pictures of the transfers and stickers? I may then be able to use them for my Lambert. Particularly interested in the downtube transfer as mine isn't readable anymore. Will then go to the company who did the Viscountess decals and see if they can do anything with it. It would mean I could restore my Lambert, which would be a dream come true.

Hey Stella. I shall, although it'll be a few weeks before I can as the bikes sat in my mum's shed at the moment and I'm not going up to Bournemouth just yet.

No worries, it ain't urgent. :-) Enjoy the 'wait'. My bike's still sitting at Scott's place. If anyone near him comes down to London, please give me a shout.

It's only my opinion - if that is a mark 1 or 2 Lambert fork on the above ebay purchase, do not ride on it!!!!! 30+ year old superglue has its limits!

It's only my opinion - if that is a mark 1 or 2 Lambert fork on the above ebay purchase, do not ride on it!!!!! 30+ year old superglue has its limits! I've finally had some time to do some tinkering and it's ok it's a MK3 I think, threaded insert at the bottom. I've also checked the rear wheel by mounting it drive side to non drive side and the dish is definitely out by about 7mm. I've tried loosening the spokes to see if I could re-dish it but they're not budging. So it'll have to be a full strip down and rebuild with new ones.
