My VA G.P. and it's a stunner! Not in as great a condition as the Mojave (no bike will ever top this!), but it comes quite close. Needs some TLC, but I've ridden it briefly and am a happy owner. Pictures on my blog

It's most certainly the last bike I'm buying for now. I still have the bike Scott's looking after for me to get here and there's another frame and fork planned to come to my home. We just need to find a way to get them from the US to me at a good price. I need to save for a new accommodation as the flat's getting a bit cramped with bikes and parts. lol And the shed only takes up to 4 bikes. *cough* I need to make a list of the bikes I have (dismantled and rideable), as people keep asking me and I honestly lost count. lol

Well, if you get bored of the GP and/or need a quick sale for your deposit for new accommodation, or run out of space - just let me know and I'll jump in with cash It looks very nice. Is it 23"?

Haha. It's 24", but 22.5 top tube. Will be fine if I push the seat a bit further forward or get a shorter stem.

Oh, I will do some polishing in the summer. First I need to ride it! And I need to put together the Lambert! If only I had more time.
The seller is over the moon that I got the bike. Sent him the link to my blog and he said he's forwarded it to everyone he's told about the bike. One more happy ending for a Viscount!

Let me be the next to congratulate you! Nothing like a nice white and blue GT for the holidays. I have a theory that the newer aerospace bikes (1978?) have the center pull brakes with the "viscount" name in the middle like the dia-compes. My guess is that they ran out of the V brakes which were the same as the L brakes (Lambert), so you got what I'd consider a "fresh one".Enjoy

That is a interesting back story on your blog regarding the origins Stella.
The frame and paint work look superb.
I spotted a 'Gran Prix' decal that I have never seen before , on the down tube below the Viscount decal. If that is original Viscount then it's very rare.
And they threw in the the flask for free...? Result!

Yes, never seen that sticker before either. The same is on the flask, which is labelled with 'Made in England'. I could imagine they let it produce for those bikes as it's exactly the same colour (blue). Unfortunately, it's not useable as a flask. The previous owner must have started using it as storage unit as the plastic on top is broken. You can't see it, though, unless you unscrew the lid.
As for the chain stays: it's a protector and not electrical tape--just as we suspected.

You know how I felt when I found the Dudley GP. It looks very simular . Same original Japanese tyres, looking like tiger bread on the side. I spent a week with the polish every minuite I had cleaning. You are right that first ride, you can feel the difference with the alloy fork from the steel version. This proves they are still out there. Enjoy.- Ray

Not sure about the bike's year, but my guess is that is was right after Trusty re-branded the Lamberts, using the old Lambert frames but threw on Viscount and Lambert parts as they merrily fit. It's basically the same bike as my Lambert Gran Prix Deluxe. All the parts are the same, just that my Lambert even has the Lambert transfers and head badge, but Viscount brakes. Funny people, those who worked at that factory. :-) Ray: Thinking of it: I think I haven't ridden a death fork yet, at least not knowingly and paid attention. Although I'm sure a few of the bikes at the DFR2 had a death fork, like yours, for instance. The feeling is the same, but the frame is a large one and they're less stiff than my usual 22" frames.

What a great ending to a fantastic story , it has come into the right hands . We are but custodians of bicycles they live on through new owners ( so long as they fall into the right hands ! )

Apparently, through mis-translations and the like, the number of the beast was actually 665...but it just doesn't have the same ring about it as 666 does it?

I've been riding the bike now and I can only say one thing: we're meant to be together. It's a great fit, even though it's a large frame. 24" seat tube, but 22.5" top tube. It's wonderful and I'm very much in love.
