LOOK
Saw this frame on ebay with a low starting price and bid on it thinking it would never go that cheap. Only bidder and it was mine. At first, I was going to "flip" it, but decided to ride it at least once before I re-sold it. Used a mix of French and Japanese components Huret Rival derailleurs, Malliard / Rigida wheels, Superbe cranks and dual pivot brakes. Carbon fibre frame, forks & stays with Alloy lugs. Hoping to get in a short test ride before the snowfall begins.

Hope you enjoy it,that's the thing with ebay, you just don't know what an item will sell for. Hope the seller has honoured the sale. Not being in the least personal, but, you must be quite tall!!!! Cheers, Pete.

I hope your find rides ok, and if you use bits and pieces just sitting around then you have a great bargain bike eh? I think I am quite good at predicting the trends on eBay, some of the time, then it just baffles me...(maybe that is because it's people that are unpredictable ? I was following this bike here, and couldn't understand why it had no bids with an hour to go to the end of auction. I figured the rack was worth £30, but the whole bike was looking likely to go for £50 which was it's starting price. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Koga-Miyata-Mountain-Bike-For-sell-/161470279157?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=9jBoX1Zo%252BXaS6vIRxbg5po5BU4k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncI even mailed Velocipete to ask if I was missing something... As it happened , I didn't know when I was in London next, so I didn't bid and went to bed expecting it to go crazy in the last 30 mins. It got up this morning to see it had 1 bid and then was re-listed straight away for a start price of £150 and a Buy it Now at £300. Baffling

Hope the seller has honoured the sale.Yep... when I looked at the seller profile, looks like it was an estate item. Not being in the least personal, but, you must be quite tall!!!!Only 6' 2", but have long legs. I favor frames from 24.5" to 25", and they are somewhat scarce. FWIW, I'm not the tallest in the family.... my daughter is 6'4" and my son-in-law is 6'8" Looks like we're getting a short period of warmer weather... Mid-50's and sunny, so the test ride is on tomorrow.

I had a dentist appointment today, so only had time for a short test ride. I took out the LOOK and my Falcon San Remo 76 as comparison.
The Falcon is db 531 w/ round section track style forks...quite stiff and heavy.
The LOOK is nice and stiff.. I noticed no significant flex when standing on the pedals. Climbs well and feels light.
The biggest difference was how the bikes handled bumps. The Falcon had a single clunk and it settled down and continued on.
On the same same bumps, the LOOK responded with 2 or 3 less abrupt shakes before smoothing out.
I guess I'll keep the LOOK frame for now unless someone on Cragslist make me an offer I can't refuse.
Cheers
Tom

I've listed the bike on CL: LOOK 64cm Bike
The sale would help finance my Viscount project.

Yes, good luck with the sale.
As a side issue - Craig's List hasn't really taken off here like it did there. My take on this is that is that towns/cities are closer together here and too small to list items for sale by town. As far as I know, there isn't a way to search all of CL in the UK for an item (say, a Viscount bike) ? If there is, please let me

I'd have trouble flipping that bike. It looks too nice sell! It is pretty, but something has to give. Last year at this time I had 2 road bikes. Now I have 7 road bikes & a mountain bike. More than I can ride. And knowing how I operate, I won't be able to resist a "deal" on CL or at a yard sale. Addicted to bikes and good beer... could be worse, I guess.

If there is, please let me I have had good luck selling and buying large items on CL.... sold my car last summer. Small stuff goes on ebay. There is one CL each for the Northeast states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, with most of the listings centered around the urban areas. For me, it usually means long drives for me and my buyers. I'm able to search CL through Google.... enter "Viscount Bicycle on Craigslist" and I get results from all over the US. If there is a UK Google, I expect that might work for you as well.

vtchuck....No riding 'till April....I feel your pain. I've had good luck with CL and www.bikeflights.com for shipping. Any "deals" in my area get snapped up too quickly. I've got the same problem with too many bikes. To ride each one as much as I'd like would require a lifestyle that I can only dream about. I've actually got mine arranged for different purposes which almost works: indoor sweat (Vitus 979) road bike for the winter, a pair of modern racing/tri bikes, "beater" road Viscount Pro, SS Viscount, "cruiser" Viscount Gran Touring, "gentleman's" porteur Viscount GP and a pair of very original "Sunday" Viscounts GP and GT. Almost forgot the mountain bike. I log everything and it's disconcerting to see bikes I love to ride only out maybe 10 times all year.

I got interest in the LOOK, but just couldn't bring myself to part with it. Decided to list my Raleigh Technium instead: New Sugino 175mm cranks, MKS pedals, Shimano 600 derailleurs, Aero bars and levers & Campy NR hubs w/ Mavic rims, Malliard 7-speed freewheel. Looking good, if I do say so myself: LOOK #1
LOOK #2
LOOK #3
Next Up is my Trek KOF (Keeper of the Flame)!
