Hi all;
I am looking for a source for Lambert decals. I came across a Lambert that that was headed for a dumpster that I would like to rescue. It appears to be a pre viscount Lambert since that name does not show up anywhere. it has one sticker that has an endorsement from Bob Thom on it along with the Grand Prix Professional Sticker. And yes it has the original death fork on it which is pretty rugged. The stem was stuck in the steer tube and it took some strong arming to get it out. i expected the fork to break at any moment but the stem came out first.
thanks

Hi, Well, I don't recall anyone asking about Lambert decals before, so I don't think there are links on this forum to any. If I had to think of anyone with that knowledge, then Cusqueno would be my first thought. I did see some NOS Lambert crank arm stickers not long back on eBay. Not sure if you need these? I think my link for them is in the selling/trading area on this forum... If I can find it then I will come back to this and share link. Great news that you rescued it. As others will attest, it will be worth the effort as they are a great ride. oh, welcome aboard by the way!

Welcome to our idiosyncratic site. Just checked the H.Lloyd web site and they don't list anything for Lambert. They have various Viscount decals though. It's worth contacting them as they are adding to there stock all the time. They can also recreate decals if you are able to afford it! Cheers, Pete.

Thanks very much for the replies. I have been all over the internet looking for them and will email Lloyd. I am pretty excited about getting it back in shape to ride! The paint is pretty badly scratched up and it has a lot of surface rust but the frame is solid inside. I have everything off the frame now and looking at historical paint schemes but need to make sure i can get decals. they are to big a part of the history of the bike to ignore and if i can't find them it will remain as is with just the components restored which would be ok also i guess.

I suppose the other option is to strip and respray and then decal up with easily available Viscount Aerospace name?
Rather an extreme option in terms of cost, I know, but worth considering? It is the same bike after all. That's what Viscount did with Lambert frames I believe, so you'd be 'authentic' and keeping the tradition going?

That is a possibility that i have not considered. thanks. Still looking. Spoke with a guy at H. Lloyd and struck out. they had nothing like what is on my bike. I took the frame into a local graphic design company and the gave me a little encouragement. If i wait till winter when they are slow they will give me a deal on reproducing the decals. May do that. In the mean time i have a lot of aluminum Alloy to clean. Any clues on how best to shine it up? Have the chrome parts under control with some stuff called vaporust. I let the parts soak for a day and all the rust disappears. really good stuff.

YES! it is Evaporust. Sorry bout that. stuff does work great though. If you let is sit in the solution overnight it will just need a washing off. if you want to do a rim, get a shallow pan and to a section at a time. just go for a ride and wait it to do its work. I coat it with a Chrome polish after cleaning to prevent it from rusting again.
thanks for the tip of the aluminum cleaner.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
If we could find a decent photograph of a Lambert decal, then I may be able to help. I've recently got wonderful transfers made by a company close to my house here in London. they do a decent quality job and don't overcharge. They need something they can copy it from, though. I need to take a look at my Lambert frame and see if the head badge is good enough to be photographed and copied.

Hey it worked! I wanted to add that the head tube badge actually shows up in two places. it is also on the seat tube with a couple of red and white stripe decals. those I am not too concerned with since they should be something like that available. there is one other decal that is says "Grand Prix Professional" but i think I am not going to replace that one.

Beautiful transfers. Unfortunately, I don't think that the company I'm using will be able to use them. What a shame. I think they're really pretty. *sigh* If I could get my hands on the original transfers, I'd restore my Lambert.

I have another issue with the Lambert that I am working through. When I got the bike the left crank arm bolt was shot and the crank arm was loose so that caused damage to the crank arm. local mechanic is telling me I should just get another. You don't just get another Lambert crank arm. Anyway, the bike was fitted with a threaded bottom bracket and tapered spindle so a new one would fit but I would like to try to salvage the old one. I am considering filling the bad spots with JB Weld and then filing back down to the original profile. Any other thoughts or am i wasting my time?

I have no idea how much effort you'd need to invest in the filling/filing, but it seems a lot. If the crank arm is fine otherwise (threads and that) then give it a go. Can't do any harm.

Wondering if anyone can help me out by checking the wording on the attached labels. I am getting new ones done up but the seat tube label and the Thom label were so badly faded i had to guess on some of the wording. I am pretty sure they changed the wording from time to time so they may differ from a Viscount. they are off a Lambert with the headbadge as shown on the headbadge pdf. thanks HEADBADGE2.pdf (66.33 KB) SEAT TUBE LABEL Model 1.pdf (57.64 KB) THOM LABEL.pdf (79.23 KB)

No clue, but great badges. I'd love to get hold of the down tube transfer, the silver ones. Then I could actually restore my Lambert properly.

Finally tracked down a company that has Lambert decals including the silver down tube decals you are looking for as long as your bike is a "Grand Prix" version. They are in England. Here is the link. worldcycledecals.com/

they do not have them listed but I emailed them copies of the ones i had asking them for a price to make them up. I corresponded with a guy named Hugh who told me that they already had the art work including the down tube label that says "Grand Prix and could make them up for me. Any ways I don't have them yet they have been slow in responding to me. hope to get them soon.

I hate it when companies can't give a toss about customer service and respond slowly. If they're good transfers, I'll be a happy girl.
