Well it was a nice day yesterday,so I thought I'd try getting my leg over the cross bar of my Sport for the first time since my little mishap. Managed that, after 8 weeks it felt great! Off into the fastnesses of the Swindon area. Actually, the country side is fine, just quite hilly getting up to the downs. Managed ok,and didn't even get into bottom gear.Did have to stop at the Calley Arms to put a bit of sweat back, cunningly arriving there at opening time! A very windy ride, not the result of the Wadworths IPA,I might add. About 12miles covered. Not bad break in. Cheers, Pete.

Thanks stoatie much appreciated. It was great to be out on a fairly sunny day. Pity I had to wear longs though, shorts definitely retired until spring! Cheers, Pete.

I was in shorts yesterday Pete. Great that you're out again, we do have some beautiful countryside between Swindon and Newbury to ride in.

Kev,at your age,and the speed you ride,I'm not at all surprised you were in shorts! At the moment it's the cross-bar height that's causing me problems.Hence my Interest in the Battaglin, nice smaller frame and low geared for the climb out of Wroughton. At the moment I'm needing all the help I can get. Cheers, Pete.

Good news Pete! I was just wondering the other day if you were back on the bike after the dog food/lino floor incident. It's not much fun being laid up.

Sent a message plus a telephone answer machine to the guy selling the bike but he's a bit hard to get hold of Pete. I'll try again tomorrow. PS was riding with an 85 year old on our hilly 55 mile club run yesterday. He was also in shorts ( but not surprising as he's hard as nails ).

Thanks Kev,I appreciate your efforts.I've cycled with the like in the '70's,they were seriously hard!Got called a ponce once for requiring more than 3 gears to haul myself around the Cwyds in North Wales for a 100miles.Lowest gear being 42/28! Ah,those were the days! I won't even mention the old "riden fixed all me life" merchants. They were just masochists. Cheers, Pete.

Nice one Pete. You picked a good time to get back in the saddle as the weathers closing in a bit. I did the same on Sunday had a nice ride out in the Essex country side and necked a pint of Greene King IPA to re-fuel.

Only the one Ray? Come on,we know you can do better than that! It's a bit flatter in your neck of the woods, but,as I recall, can be a right B for head winds. Cheers, Pete.
