I bought this for my wife and let her try it as a ten-speed. I think it's a 1975 Aerospace Pro. It came with all original equipment. It didn't fit her well, so I took it on as a project bike. I've kept the front brake, headset, bottom bracket, and large chainring. That's about all that's original. I built the rear wheel with a Sturmey Archer S3X hub, which is a 3-speed fixed-gear hub. The front hub has a Sanyo dynamo hub so my headlight works whenever I want it to, without a battery. I ride the bike around town on errands. It's fun. It has the steel dowel in the steerer tube, so I probably won't die riding it. The cranks are genuine TA cranks, in a diminutive 155mm length. Pedals are SPD type.

Hi Tom and it's nice to welcome another NY'er to the forum. You're a familiar name from www.bikeforums.net and quite a prolific writer from what I remember. I do remember your previous writing where you were hankering for a Viscount. Looks like you've got an Aerospace GP, not a Pro. The GP's are red/white or blue/white with the shimano titlist rear. The Pro's were silver/blue or silver/black with a shimano crane rear. What stem are you using? I've got a too small blue/white GP that needs at least 2" more on the stem height and probably a 125-140mm reach over the Viscount stock stem. The Nitto technomic is a bit pricey. Here's my tiny Viscount and also an old shot of a proper fitting single speed conversion I did about a year ago.

Oh I didn't know of the GP. Thanks for the info. It was some sort of generic stem. The reach was too short, and it was too tall. Now I have a more normal stem in it. I also rebuilt the wheel with a regular fixed gear hub. I found I didn't need the three speeds, because lower Manhattan is nearly flat. The gears were too far apart. I now have it geared at 74 inches. Gotta take a picture of the new stem...

Love the hub cleaner!Always used to have them in prehistoric days, very hard to find now. I've resorted to bits of blue poly rope in the past.Does the job,but looks a bodge. Cheers, Pete.
