Hi all, I have decided to try and recreate this 'Allrounder' with my 'Pro. However, I am never realistically going to pay as much as this below, for a NOS pair of mudguards, even if they are perfect and the exact ones that would have been on the original. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181539162465?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITSo, if anyone sees a pair for a decent price (£15 ish?) then I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. If you are at a jumble or a car boot and see some then buy them and I will pay up straight away and pay postage etc

Best of luck with your search Jem! I was in Halfords the other day and a set of mudguards was about £20+. They were black. So I don't think (hate to say this) that the ones linked to are probably not far off price wise.I know it can sometimes be cheaper to buy a whole bike than the item you want.Daft init??? Cheers, Pete.

I recently spent around £20 on a pair of Blumels Classique guards on ebay (black with silver stripe down the middle).
I spent quite a while watching Bluemels on ebay and they do come up at a range of prices. So it's just a case of holding out!!
That or finding them already on a cheap bike.

Lewis - yes I agree. I just need to hold out and keep looking, but the cheap bike with them already on is a realistic option.

Definitely. I went to look at a potential donor bike just a few days before I bought my guards and could (would) have got them cheaper that way if they hadn't been broken.
Love the idea of the project btw. I'll keep my eyes peeled!

I am watching a Raleigh Twenty on eBay at the moment, and it won't go for much but it has a vintage pair of Carradice rear panniers that would justify the price on their own. I see this kind of thing quite a lot.
Funny eh?

Ssssh, don't let on,prices will rise! Cheers, Pete. I'll just have to learn to keep my voice down! Although, I think we all expected Viscount prices to rise a year or two back with the big CTC thread etc, but I don't really see that in the real world. They've stayed put in my humble opinion

There's still some nice bikes at reasonable prices, and I've noticed that the people who listed bikes at daft prices are slowly bringing them down.Long may that continue! Cheers, Pete.

I like to think that although we are passionate about Lambert & Viscount, we are not blinkered fools who will buy at any price. Therefore , those that have them up for silly money just never sell them. They might confuse out enthusiasm for something else.

On the subject of mudguards - do you guys have any hints on re-shaping the flap at the back of the front guard? I was just going to remove it as I'm not keen on them really but it could help my Sport to look more 'work-horse' tourer than town bike (as I fear may happen). The flap on my guards is curled in on itself at the sides - forwards if the guard were fitted. There is a tear towards the top of the flap which may be causing or at least adding to this. I know I should start a new thread in the Tech section but couldn't be bothered. ?

On the subject of mudguards - do you guys have any hints on re-shaping the flap at the back of the front guard? This happens relatively quickly doesn't it!? I had mine in the back of the car for a day and rushed putting it in and didn't see mudflap was folded. Aesthetically a total 'no no'. Mine popped out after a day or so. If I were pushed to come up with a solution for it, I might heat it with warm water or a hair dryer...?

As it's split I'd replace it.You could fit a nice leather Brooks flap, this would cost more than some of us paid for our bikes! Alternatively,go the "Blue Peter" route and make one out of a plastic bottle. As it's for a Viscount,it would have to be a beer bottle!Quick and easy to do,and the shape you want.Remember, don't handle sharp tools immediately after consuming the contents! Cheers, Pete.

I'd go for the Bargain Booze 'White Lightening' ,rough cheap cider in a plastic bottle for a Viscount mudflap

Ha ha!
Now you both know full well I have a better taste in cider than White Lightning!
Think I'll still just chop it off for now and see how the bike looks as it comes together.

What's your loved one going to say if you just chop it off, sounds a bit extreme, even if you have been imbibing high quality cider! Cheers, Pete.

I know you are a proper cider man Lewis,we sampled your wares at DFR2, I was just being daft...even when desperate, the hardened drinkers don't want White Lightening with it's foul mixture of alcohol and additives!

Definitely agree on the John Sniths front Pete - Less so the tea ("for any old ailment, cough or wheeze, for christ's sake have a cuppa tea"). Do we need a booze section in the next forum tidy up?

I did mail the seller a few hrs before end of the auction , saying if it got no bids would he sell me the panniers & post out. Ah well....it's a nice bargain for someone.
