Has anyone here had a go on a 250m velo track?
There is a new one about to open over in Derby and I thought I might go and do the accreditation training. It seems reasonable to me- £65 for the training , which is 3 x 2 hrs sessions which makes that just over £10 an hour, and then it's £12.50 an hour when you've done the safety training.
Just interested to hear what it's like.

I went on the Manchester velodrome about 13 years ago. Great fun, quite scary, and whatever you do don't suddenly stop pedaling.

Useful to get used to the idea of fixed by riding on the road. It's something that requires confidence more than anything else. I first rode on the 175m tracks which were very tight and very steep - you can look down on the tops of the peoples' heads from the banking. The trick is to go fast enough down the straight to get 'up' onto the banking. After a couple of laps and you'll wonder what you had been apprehensive about. Now, riding a Madison with 21 other people weaving about = 'respect' !
