1948 Hugonnier-Routens (Durifort steel) 1950 Barra Mixte (fillet-brazed aluminium alloy tubes!!) Another Barra in aluminium, this time from 1941 Finally, a 1938 Reyhand tandem, in original condition (Reynolds 531) All these bikes belong to the very lucky Tim, who has this blog. b

Now they're absolutely gorgeous! So much better than modern,machine-welded alloy frames. In my (blinkered) opinion, frames need to have nicely worked lugs, don't have to be too fancy to show that the builder has put love into the frame,or,butted joints, carefully finished. Your friend is a lucky man to be able to preserve these for posterity, and use them of course! Jealous?Moi?Damn right!!!! Cheers, Pete.

There's something about a well-done fillet braze. Especially the detail of the Barra mixte above. I think it's just insane how well those tubes seem to flow into each other. b

That 1941 Barra and the red French bike on Tim's blog have got the look. I just find the braze joints create a real timeless clean look. I hope I can capture that retro look with an old Aerospace frame (winter project?) Your pictures have given me some good ideas.

The fillet-brazed Schwinns (Super Sport, Sport Tourer, and Superior)are pretty common over here; I have two out in the barn: 1965 Super Sport, Mostly stock: 1973 Super Sport, hot-rodded a bit: Top

I love the over all look of that one with the brown/copper colour frame. That is a 'proper' bike! And what a cute little front rack on the yellow framed one. I guess rummaging around your barn would be very agreeable afternoon well spent, if those are anything to go by!? Watch out for those American Pickers nosing around

I wouldn't worry about American pickers,it's the English pykies that would bother me! Cheers, Pete.
