Greetings:
TIA for your help.
#1 I am planning to build up new wheels with Viscount HF hubs, Mavic Mod E 27 x 1.25" narrow rims and 14 G SS spokes.
I plan to lace up the wheels myself and then bring them to a shop for dishing & truing. Having read up on the chain line issues and the unique geometry of the rear hub, I'm wondering if I have to explain that the to shop or if the design of the hub will make it obvious.
#2 Is the allen fitting on the stem SAE rather than metric? My metric wrenches don't fit.
#3 I picked up a second set of Viscount pedals, and they have the same in-out slack / as my originals. Is there any solution? I can't imagine that it is a pleasant riding experience to have them shifting in and out as you pedal.
#4 Any solutions for the rear QR not holding the wheel in alignment? I notice that the QR side cam surface is smooth unlike all other QR's I've examined. I'm considering using a Dremel tool to cut notches in the surface to give the QR more "bite"
#5 My Lambert branded brake levers have a single row of drilled holes. Was this a factory or user modification?
Again, thanks for sharing your expertise.

I went through some of the same issues. As far as the stem it's a 5.5mm allen. I found one on ebay that did the trick. I also had trouble initially with QR holding the wheel tight on my "older" GP that has a flat clamping lever as opposed to a curved clamping lever on the "newer" GP. I finally got a good clamp down after lubing the lever mechanism itself. That seemed to allow it to tighten up sufficiently....and yes mine's smooth too. I've got three pairs of pedals and they've all got play but I really don't notice it riding. Think of it as side to side float.
