There's a Bernard Hinault frame on ebay that has an unthreaded bottom bracket shell. Perhaps there was a connection or a using up of parts after Viscount went bust? Another little mystery. Cheers, Pete.

Hi Stu,I seem to recall it was. I can't help with type of bottom bracket originally fitted. If you carefully measure the bottom bracket shell, inside and out with a micrometer,we may be able to make some suggestions. Welcome anyway,it costs nowt to join up,so I can recommend it.You are more than welcome, most members have other bikes as well.Anything unusual will get my attention! Cheers, Pete.

The length of the bottom bracket is 68cm and the inside is 64cm as there is a 2mm bevel. Inside diameter width is 32cm, outside diameter is 40cm. there is no serial number on the frame I can find but was covered in Hinault decals.

Stu,it seems to me that your best bet would be a threadless bottom bracket assembly.I've fitted one to my Aerospace Sport. I had to grind out the frame tube intrusions into the bottom bracket shell.Judging by your photos, you wont have to. These are available from ebay, you will need to know the length required. That depends on the chainset you want to fit. I've not had any trouble with mine. Best of luck with your build. Cheers, Pete.
