Puzzled,in France! Pete- I clocked that one too. I wasn't sure what was going on with it - nice components, and I like the colour, tastefully done. I had to ask Bustaste as I was intrigued. So, he says it's a '78 Potter Bar frame, probably an Aerospace Sport. Most interesting is that Bustaste says the metal head tube badge was originally riveted to a Tulsa GL... So, its a 'Franken-viscount' but in the best possible way! 531 stickers were for fun? I'd love to know the story behind it....

I'm having my first bad ebay experience. I found a ratty looking red and white aerospace gp in my 23" size that looked to be all original so I figured for a low $108 with shipping it was worth a bid and I in fact won. Only problem is, the guy never shipped it and now I've had to open a case on the buyer protection program. I'm sure the refund is not a problem but I REALLY wanted that bike. The seller doesn't communicate and I am losing hope as I approach the Sept 18th deadline for a full on ebay investigation/probable refund. BUMMER

That's a major bummer! Cut your losses and get out I'd say.

If it helps- when you get the money back, there's a nice red/white GP over in California for you...bit more than $108 though, but it ain't looking too ratty either (those garages in Mojave must be just the right atmosphere for storing bikes for 35 years?)

Just finished up with ebay and got a full refund. Easily done, and the seller gets the shaft for the future. I missed the same bike on Craigs list a couple of months ago that was sold in ONE DAY! for about the same price and in beautiful condition. It was about a 2 hour drive and no way did I expect it go that fast especially on a weekday, so I guess I'm not the only one on the prowl! So Sooper 8, if you had the Mojave special, would you ride it or frame it? ?

So Sooper 8, if you had the Mojave special, would you ride it or frame it? ? Without hesitation I would ride it as much as possible. With the exception of wet weather. My logic is that the condition is not significantly altered by reasonable riding (and I'd chance the fork, knowing the very slim risks- it can't be riskier than riding carbon can it?). Also, the mint condition status is only crucial if you want to sell it and make money from it. I wouldn't be selling it- I'd put it in my will for my son... I see a few guys I know with rare/high end guitars under the bed in cases, never played for fear of giving them a knock etc. Until recently I owned a great Telecaster I could only dream of as a kid. I used to let people have a go on it, lean it against walls, and generally not worry about it at all. I didn't abuse it, I just did with it what it's designed purpose was. It got a few knocks but it added some character. However, none of the above excludes that I would probably cry like a baby if I owned the 'Mojave Special' and had a catastrophic incident (and by that I mean any kind of scratch, bump or knock).

Well put Sooper 8. I'd ride it too...very carefully. When I tell my daughter what a fine inheritance of Viscounts she'll have, she just rolls her eyes

Here's a good one for you. There's a new GP on ebay that has a brochure photo pic of a different model. To make things even crazier, the guy lifted a photo of MY GP turned at a 90 degree angle probably lifted off google images to call his own!!! I notified ebay about it this afternoon and as of tonight it's still up!!! Big time scammer/ misrepresentation of what he's selling and slow/no action by ebay.

I notified ebay about it this afternoon and as of tonight it's still up!!! Big time scammer/ misrepresentation of what he's selling and slow/no action by ebay. Outrageous! In my experience eBay and Paypal are fine when there are no problems (well, except the slightly over the top fees they take) - but once you get something like this they are like a huge soulless corporate beast run by computers, with slow response and lack of human overseers. I once sold half a dozen Casio watches on eBay as one 'lot'. They all worked but were not new etc. I accurately described and photographed them and take pride in my 100% seller rating. I did state very clearly 'no returns' as they were never going to fetch much. The buyer left positive feedback then about 3 weeks later said one of watches had faded and gone off and it probably needed a new battery- he basically tried a form of blackmail and said I should refund 1/6 of the total cost or he would file an 'item not as described'. I said 'bring it on' or words to that effect. eBay found in his favour and said he could have a full refund. If that wasn't bad enough the fu**ing c*$% t%$£@ then only returned 3 watches and said he lost the other three. I contacted eBay which took about 3 days on the phone and said that I had a mail from the guy saying he'd returned only 3 as he'd lost the others -and they said that it was inadmissible as proof. They advised him to return the 3 watches with proof of delivery and therefore as soon as they arrived at my door (regardless of whether I accepted the package or not) he got a full refund by eBay. eBay advised I go to the police and file a fraud claim. For £50 it wasn't worth it. So ...eBay can be a great place to pick up things you would have to hunt the world over to find, but if it goes wrong (especially as a seller), they offer no protection whatsoever.
