Excellent Scott! Wish I could have been there. 55 miles = three times around the DFR2 route ? - unless we get lost. Good to see the Sport taking you to beer and cake stalls and pubs.

Brilliant pictures! Did you encounter other Viscounts?

Stella i spotted a couple, but not with their owners and not when i had my camera with me. A Grand Sport and what looked like a Tulsa through a crowd of other bicycles, gold/beige with red viscount decals. A couple of comments, "that was like the one I had when I was a kid" and "another Viscount" made me think there were a few more there and somewhat dissapointing as I was looking out for them. My Viscount radar must be on the blink.

Bravo Scot, bravo!
Some talk about it, and take photos and eat cake ( ie me ) while others do it. I take my hat off to you!
Great pics. DRF2 will be a mere stroll in the park then- just a warm up for a proper ride eh?
edit- I must mention this; At Eroica I asked a seller on a bike jumble stall if he had any Viscount or Lambert bits and pieces such as seat post bolt with the 'V' on. He said "Ah, I spoke to you up at the Purslow thing didn't I ?" I said "no, never been there" He said "oh, you just all sound the same then , you Viscount owners" It made me laugh.

Great shots. Really gave me the feel of a big time retro bike fest. Nothing like that state side. Gravel roads must have been fun.

How did I miss you! I was there, here is the bike ready to go.
My daughter made me a matching loom-band bracelet, and I took advantage of the nailbar having metallic cobalt blue nail varnish.
As you can tell, I have not quite got the hang of attachments.

I spotted two other cobalt blue Aerospace at the finish, both had done the medium route. One guy had bought the bike because he had a Sebring when he was a teenager and he wanted to have a Viscount again (he had outgrown the Sebring). His Aerospace must have been very close in age to mine (1978) as the frame numbers both started K118, and the components were identical. The other one was a little bit older.

Well done guys! Not one but two of you representing the marque and this little forum. Next time you have to give out cards or something and get other Viscount owners you see to sign up here as members. It's the closest we've got to a clubhouse!
The other great thing about the timing is that it means the L'Eroica is just a curtain-raiser for DFR2.

Scott, do you mind if I stick a couple of your photos up on my blog? There's one of you on the strada biacnhi where you really could be in Chianti. It looks like it was an absolute corker of a day.

Sounds like you both had a good day. rmw: If I ever look as fresh and relaxed after 80 miles I'd be a very happy girl. Never done 80 miles and I doubt I've done 40 miles yet. But I may be wrong as I don't have a Garmin.

I promoted this forum and the DFR to all persons with Viscounts that I met.
I don't have a Garmin - and shame on anyone who had one on their bike at L'Eroica. To find out how far you have gone you get your map and a piece of cotton thread, or you can use the side of a bit of paper. Lots of finicky twisting and turning and then you measure how long your piece of thread/marked bit of paper is. Or you can use a little measuring wheel and run that along your route on your map.
Whisper: I do sometimes use an app on my smart phone, but the battery doesn't last beyond 6 hours, so only good for short rides.

Pete the alu water bottles were a home made effort.
2 new bottles from TK Max, wire wooll'd to age, 2 corks from demijohns found at the car boot last week, bottle labels from a couple of cold beers I had watching the Italy England game and rubber pipe from camelback spares.
Now these have rattled round the 55 miles, are not looking there best.

Yes I was part of team Guvnors' assembly A lot of traveling from the south coast which is why I can't make it to the DFR2 . I've nearly fallen asleep driving 14 miles home from work on a couple of occasions ( never fallen asleep on the bike ... yet )

Did you come down the incline at Cromford? That must have been brilliant fun. I declined the inclines. One of the few, most were happy to ride it - to the chagrin of the marshals. I did ride a bit of the second incline, which is the one into Cromford, where there were no death-drop-offs. The downhill swoop was the ride from Mam Nick into Chapel-en-le-Frith, it just went on and on, smooth and straight and little traffic at half past eight on a Sunday morning. The last section from Chatsworth to Bakewell had a horrible climb and then there was a very enjoyable descent!

And before you ask, of course I walked up hills as well as down inclines.
