Well I didn't have one so I employed the old McCarthy adage .. If you can't buy it or borrow it , make it . So I found a piece of acrylic at work, found some suitable drill bits and a bit of time on the band saw & sanding machine ... Bob's your Uncle . Worked a treat

Never having any machining facilities,I've always had to use the Mk1 centre punch method.Or a masonry nail will surfice. Both in conjunction with a "Trusty" hammer of course! Cheers, Pete.

Foss, having a bike with a 600ex group set you'll know what I mean when I say that the special spanners for the headset and brakes would be most helpful. On eBay they can be as expensive as the components themselves. Any chance of some copies? Could be profitable I think...

That's a good question , I hadn't thought of that . the one down side is that the acrylic I used was an offcut that one of the lads had left over from a bit of boat repair . I work at a cabinet makers ( we make bespoke kitchens) so I have the machinery to make some things . What are the special brake tools you refer too ?

Sir Biscuit, I'm very much in awe! Love it! Practical and looks nice, too.

I'm pretty sure there is a tool for the part of the brake behind the callipers, which goes up against the forks (for the front brake). You need to hold it so that you can tighten the nut without moving the callipers or stopping them moving. But I haven't been able to find a picture. It must be like a miniature version of the headset tool: velobase.com/ViewTool.aspx?ID=06441c13-61a5-4a63-ba44-2f7c62e049c3&AbsPos=256Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is a great material for making spanners to use on things that you don't want to mark - I'm thinking of the 600AX headset, that you could at a push use a cloth and any wrench, but this would be a far more elegant solution?
