Oh dear,it's probably all our fault for being enthusiastic! At least the first bike appears to be an Aerospace, the second is obviously a bitza! Raleigh chainset off a cheapo for gods sake.Lugged frame, nice and tidy,£60ish would be about it. Seems like we'll have to start spreading rumours of old Viscounts disintergrating and wiping out bus stops full of OAPs etc. That might lower the prices to more realistic levels. Cheers, Pete.

They will be waiting a long time to sell those don't you think?
For more of a reality check, we have the great looking GP in Wales on eBay that is £200 Buy it Now with free shipping (listed twice and still not sold), and then Raymondo's GP from Sutton Coldfield that was half that price, and must be the best example I have seen for sale since the Mojave Special! They are more like the prices people are willing to pay.
Having said that, the two I mention are great value for money and I would value them higher.
I can only guess what goes through peoples minds when they have one for sale. Maybe they add up what they paid for it and then all the new components they added. Then they perhaps they look on the CTC Viscount thread and see that people like them and collect them, which in their minds equates to £ and $ signs.
Lambert and Viscount are not so rare as to force up the price that high. They come up for sale fairly regularly if you have time to wait and be patient.
As another marque example, I have been looking for a decent Volkcycle for ages (for obscure reasons that I won't go into here) and they come up very rarely. They don't warrant super high prices , they are not anywhere near the quality of an Aerospace but they are sought after and hard to find, therefore price is higher than it should be.

I just thought the same when I saw those prices. Thing is: real Viscount lovers won't pay that much money for a bike. I think we'd probably go up to 100 if the bike's really worth it. Those looking for a second hand bike, may buy it for 250, but 350? Not a chance. From a seller's POV, I do understand that you'd like to have your time and money spent back, but most people would rather spend this on a well-known brand. I don't know many people (younger ones) who even heard of Viscount and they automatically assume it's a budget bike (ha! if they knew how right they are!) Just that it's budget on a high level!
