Hello all. Has anyone been in contact with this seller and negotiated a sale? I was just about to bid (with five minutes to spare before the end) when it was removed - 'This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.' I suspect foul play and have contacted magnamidge for an explanation and offering the full £100. I have a mind to complain to eBay if the seller does not reply.

Sounds to me he was a bit peeved that it wasn't receiving bits and just pulled it. I hope you have success with your contact. There's quite a bit of this sort of thing going on,if he wants more than the initial price,he could have put a reserve on it. I suspect it'll be on again soon,I think I'll "watch this seller". If you get no joy from him, have a good moan to ebay. Not that it will do much good, he'd just open another account! Either way, best of luck. Cheers, Pete.

That's what I think. Strangely enough he (I assume he) has been an eBay member for a long time and has good feedback. What's particularly annoying is that I'd just (i.e. half an hour before) negotiated with Mrs C that I could buy another bike!

Very annoying indeed. Perhaps there is a 'good' explanation and the seller still has it and will be selling it?

Oh dear! It has just reappeared on eBay and I have put a bid in. I'm assuming that the previous domestic authorisation still holds. (But that the idea of one in - one out has been forgotten.)

That looks quite nice.
Couple of things - does it not have a rear dropout or is it painted in such a way I can't see it?(or did they not have them?)
And secondly, it has pictures of the bike with the chainnset on and then a shot of it off with the pedals. Then the listing says "no bottom bracket". Do you think he has a go at replacing and had problems?
I do like the look of it though...

See the pictures of a Reg Harris Lambert on Classic Rendezvous: www.classicrendezvous.com/British_isles/Harris_Reg/R_Harris_Lam1.htmI'm pretty sure that most Lamberts didn't have dérailleur mounts on the drop outs. The gold one hasn't and neither has my later fillet brazed 'bert. This one has a basic SunTour RD, possibly to replace a Lambert one ? I agree about someone trying to replace the bb. Let's hope it's not b*gg*red.

Well spotted John,I knew it would return.Looks like a conventional bottom bracket,so no worries there. Unless,of course,it's not a square taper, parallel taper? That could explain the no bottom bracket in the listing. As you say Jem,looks a tidy bit of kit,and a triple, just what you said you needed! Watching, but I wont be bidding. Cheers, Pete.

Was it McCartney or Lennon who lived in Weybridge? Or George? I know it was one of them Beatles!

In 1986 or '7 I went to see Elvis Costello in Manchester. He was playing with a group he called the Confederates (Ronnie Tutt, T-Bone Wolk, Glen Hardin and the legendary James Burton ).
It was a freezing cold March night, the kind of night you can see your breath stream out in clouds, like a power station cooling tower. The kind of night you could imagine that the homeless might struggle to make it through the night if caught in the open.
Anyway, my friend and I had arrived early and sought some protection in an alley around the back of the theatre. It was by the stage door.
About 30 minutes before opening, a very classy lady came around and knocked on the stage door. It opened a little and the light and heat from inside hit us like a radiant wave from heaven- this coupled with the woman's expensive scent made a rather exquisite scene that is as clear to me as if it were yesterday.
security said 'yes?' and she said, 'I'm on the guest list". He said "who are you?" She said 'Cynthia" "No you're not on the list" "Are you sure?" "No, go round the front of house"
She is no diva and certainly didn't complain. What a classy woman! No second name, just Cynthia. Stupid security guard!!! I really kick myself for not walking with her to the front doors and asking a few Beatle related questions.
Elvis being a true gent dedicated a song to her in the set. Not one of his but one of Jonhs- 'You've got to Hide your Love Away". Played with huge emotion and sung by all of the crowd. I have no proof and could be wrong but I am pretty sure that the Gibson acoustic that Elvis has is possibly one of Johns. A gift from Cynthia?
This is my only Beatle related story. I just love the Beatles.
