I'm in Sheffield this weekend, not next, unfortunately. Next up this way probably 26 July (and 28 June!). When's the next jumble?

I'm going to try and get down with my dad - St. Mary's is in my old back yard, more or less... I could do with some help writing my shopping list. I've got an Aerospace 600EX frame that I hope I will be building up this autumn. I have - nearly - made my mind up not to build it up with 600EX. I'd like to go for nice Suntour stuff instead, and I've got a Superbe rear derailleur and Power Shifters. But what about wheels, brakes, stem, saddle, handlebars? I want to keep it early '80's. And I fancy a massive, long stem, like the Italians like, so that my chin scrapes on the front wheel when I'm sprinting... But other than that, I've just got a big blank piece of paper to fill. The frame's a pretty stunning pale metallic lilac: Feel free to talk me into 600EX too! It's just that I've got two - no three! - Shimano equipped bikes and one Campagnolo. So Suntour sort of feels like the right choice for the next one.

Maybe this other thread might throw up a few thoughts and options? viscountandlambert.boards.net/thread/268/components-vintage-bikes-parts-listThere are so many combinations! I suppose it will come down to what you can find in the time scale, how much you want to spend and which combinations seem to work together. Just in terms of saddle, I guess you've got quite a few to chose from. If you want to keep it a simple choice, and you get on with leather, then I would say a Brooks B17 . Alternatively there was a nice Ideale saddle on eBay here for a decent price. You might also find the Viscount original if you get lucky. I went for a new saddle on one of mine and it really perked it up but kept it 1982 in spirit. But if you don't have the time to break in a leather saddle etc , then maybe look at the Vitesse range from that period. A fairly basic seat, but I find them comfy and it looks good on that era bike. I have 3 of the suede covered saddles with the Viscount name on the side. That was my saddle for a few years when I first had my Viscount and other than being prone to water-logging if you leave your bike out in it, it's a great saddle in my opinion.

Goldie,If you fanc Italian gear,I've got a Cinnelli Handle bar and stem, not sure of the length, but quite long. It's currently languishing in my storage. If you're interested,I can bring it to DFR2,but you'd need to remind me nearer the day. Cheers, Pete.

Pete, I absolutely was thinking of Cinelli for the bars and stem. If you could bring yours along to DFR2 that would be great, but don't worry if you find a home for them before then. Saddle: I was going to try something different to a Brooks. I have one on my Pro which I love, but I fancied something a bit more definitively '80's. I like the "Viscount" suede saddles, and I was also thinking about a Concor www.sanmarcovintage.com/en/Vintage/Saddles/102/Concor%20Supercorsa.html although I can't make my mind up whether the red would be a bit too much. Keep the suggestions coming - it is good to be able to bounce this stuff backwards and forwards.

Goldie,I wont be using the bars as there too wide for little-old me.I'll be having a bit of a rummage through my "come in handy" box(es) and bring some stuff to DFR2. May be of use to folk in there projects. Cheers, Pete.

I think with some other tastefully placed red bits (crank dust caps, handlebar tape?) then it would be pretty stylish.

If it ends up looking as good as your Deore, I'll be pretty chuffed.
