Hypothetically speaking, if a person had a re-croming kit, would the piece to be re-chromed need sand blasting in cabinet? And if not, how much effort is it to do it by hand and how 'clean' would the piece have to be to make a good job of it?
I'm thinking somewhere down the line that I might look for second hand kit for this and give it a go. This thought came to while trying to polish the un-polisheble and looking at chrome blistering last night (specifically the front break 'hanger' and some of the headset nuts off the Pro)

I've asked a friend who's normally one all pro DIY, but told me that there are hazardous chemicals you're dealing with. Personally, I wouldn't advise you to use the kit. I'd looked into it after you told me about it, particularly because I've lots of small bits that need re-chroming, including forks. I'll rather safe up and hand them over to Argos or Bob Jackson than risking my health.
