Cheers, Pete. As you say, as far as can be seen from the lousy photos, a nice bike and a useful size (22"-23"?). I was a bit suspicious at first - who locks their bike up to take a photograph? (Unless that's to stop it roaming off on its own to the nearest watering hole?) But requesting cash on collection would mean that one couldn't be ripped off I think.

I asked the seller for more photographs and they have appeared. Shows the bike to be in generally VG condition, although fitted with a new RD and shifters. Forks are a slightly different shade of blue to the frame - DF replacements? I also asked if the stem and seat pin were stuck, but the seller is having difficulty checking that.

Bike's owner (as opposed to the seller) is German and does not understand my explanation of how to check for stuck seat pins & stems. One for Stella?
Added in edit: I have sent Stella's German text. Seller said that the owner travelled to Edinburgh to collect the bike. Does that make it one we have seen before?

A stuck seat pin? I never had that, but stuck seat posts. :-)
I can try to explain, although I won't know half the bike vocabulary I know in English. Stem is Lenkstange and seat post is Sattelstuetze. Copy paste this in your email to them:
Ich wuerde gerne wissen ob die Lenkstange sich frei bewegt; ob die ohne Probleme in der Hoehe zu vestellen ist, dasselbe fuer die Sattelstuetze, kann der Sattel leicht in der Hoehe verstellt werden?
Trans: I'd like to know if the stem moves freely, if it's possible to adjust its height, and the same for the seat post: is it easy to adjust the saddle height?
That should explain what you want from them. Everyone knows how to do that--even in Germany. :-)

Which google translate renders as: saddle can be adjusted without any problems. handlebar should also be set, which I'll look tonight as a precaution after times. since I got the bike to me but nothing unusual is noticed
so that looks OK

Although I am only on my iPhone , I think fork looks ok colour wise. And in general bike looks good. No probs to fully bring back to original spec. Long way to travel to collect, but for anyone who's keen to get it, it cuts down on potential bidders.

Pete,
I have the bike on my radar.
Is it special enough, good enough or cheap enough?
Yorkshire is a big place - and it'd be a 200-mile round trip to collect it!

It does look nice though, but ,as we know all Viscounts are special! Yorkshires only so big 'cos they nicked most of Westmoreland!!! Cheers, Pete.

Yes, a very tidy bike and worthy of consideration as long as it can find the pubs!
A chunk of Westmoreland only got 'nicked' as compensation 'cos part of the East Riding became Humberside!!
Safe Riding,

As it was German owned,it might need to be retrained from lager to "Real Ale"! Wasn't East Riding a product of a TV series and didn't actually exist? Cheers, Pete.
