That black re-spray has been done quite nicely imo. With good additional parts and BB done to save headaches.
Not a big fan of the green colour either, but it's been done well.
Quite a drive though?

I have been in touch with the seller about the mixte. He said "Forgot to mention this frame was commissioned by the Lambert export manager for his wife." I asked if he had a name for the export guy, for the sake of the historians among us. However, he hasn't yet said yet whether he would post or courier it. He has pedals, brakes, chainset & wheels to go with it and i have requested photos, but I probably have more than enough Lambert bits myself to build it up. It's four hours by road from me and 5 hours + by rail, using the notorious Avanti West Coast line, (it's almost in Liverpool!) so, unless he can pack it and send it, I think I will have to pass, although it is very tempting. Unless there are any forum members passing that way ...

That sounds very interesting and would temp me even more!
I would volunteer to pick up if it were nearer , but that's still quite a drive from here.
I used a courier to get a bike down from Scotland last year, and it went really well and not as expensive as I thought- it was one of those collection services where the bike didn't even need to be wrapped up.

Do you have a name for the service? If I just buy the frame it would be quite small and light.

You put your details in here, and then you get a flurry of email quotes via the web site from various independent couriers, often quite quickly and having quite a wide price range too. Then once you start communicating with them, you can talk about details and book the delivery in. It works best if you are not in a great hurry, as the calendar has different prices against each day. www.shiply.comI believe that what happens is that if an independent courier is doing another job on that day in roughly the same location, then they fit their schedule around that. So , there is no point me telling you the exact person who did my bike as they were Scottish and were coming down south anyway, and managed to get my bike on their run, hence the price. (it wasn't actually my bike, it was a Brad Wiggens kids bike for my grandson , even with delivery it was cheaper than I could find around here within driving distance ) Hope it works out for you as that is a great story to go with the mixte EDIT - you need sellers full address and postcode and a good estimate of the weight EDIT AGAIN- just found my emails from my delivery, it was almost £50, so not exactly cheap- but the seller would not wrap up and post the bike out, so this service was the only way to get it, short of doing an almost 20 hr round trip in car or going up on the train for maybe £100+ , this was the best option

I've bought the frame and wheels for £50. Using a courier firm from eBay offering door-to-door service for £34.99. Seller will box up.
Seller also has a Lambert bb spindle (looks tapered, but can't be certain), with circlips & new sealed bearings, Lambert porthole crankset & rings, Lambert brakes, brake levers and pedals (no caps). I think I have enough of all these so I'm not buying them and if anyone wants them it would be worth contacting the seller. He has been helpful and answered all my questions.
Photos of the components have been added to the Gumtree listing

I should receive the frame and wheels in two or three days, + the bb spindle, which I thought I would be silly to pass up.
I'm looking forward to building it up - I haven't built a bike since before the pandemic. Which raises a number of questions. I won't re-paint it. The paint looks in good condition, although the seller did say there are some chips on the chain stays. So, what colour parts go with that green? I guess black mudguards (fenders), black bar tape and black cable outers would be the safe choice. Or should I go for white everything? I have a green Aerospace 600ex and green bar tape looks quite nice on that. What does everyone think?

Too hard to match the green, I think, and white doesn't stay white for very long. As for mudguards, black would be a decent choice but chrome might look amazing.

My 400ax has bright yellow bar tape on the Viscount lurid green frame. It looks in keeping with the era, but I wouldn't call it classy. And white cable housing .
Never felt the desire to change it though

The link does not take me to the bike in question, so I do not know its exact color. What colors go with green depend very much on the shade of green. I like brown, beige and russets with dark green. I prefer black or white with light limey greens. Some like bright blue with lime green; I have mixed emotions on that combination. As for mudguards, I always like hammer finish polished aluminum. Cheers Jim

Nice frame; I like the color. I would use a saddle in contrasting dark green with matching cable housing and handlebar tape. If that is too hard to find, I would use natural leather (color) with matching cable housing and handlebar tape. Much like the Univega I built for my wonderful wife. Gails Univega by Jim_Gude, on Flickr Cheers Jim I like the honey leather treatment, especially with gum wall tires. I’ve used dark brown faux leather wrap with dark brown cable housing and aged Brooks Pro on my silver mist Paramount. It’s good to pick up colors from the decals as well. Not as easy a decision as it might seem. Best, John “wheelson”

Velocals allows you to choose the colors on many of their decals. This makes a color match with the decals a cinch.

This is my current Viscount mixte - a Corsair Wayfarer. It came with drop bars. I will probably sell it once I complete my bew one, although it is a good everyday bike. flic.kr/p/2iUfqEnHere is part of a Lambert flyer showing two mixte models. I think I will go with the G.P. style - drop bars - but with mudguards / fenders. The photo is low-res, but I'm pretty sure that they have red Simplex Delrin RDs. I have one of those but will probably stick with Crane. flic.kr/p/2nWBJMC

I have a better copy of that page of the brochure. Lambert Catalog (7) by Jim_Gude, on Flickr Yep, they have Simplex Delrin RDs. In my opinion the Crane is a far better choice and I would go with that; especially in a commuter. Cheers Jim

All my purchases arrived safely. Unfortunately, Mrs C was not very pleased to learn that I'd bought another bike, so I have been keeping a low profile and just collecting parts together.

I'm thinking of using my set of first gen centre pull Dura Ace brakes and the DA levers with suicide levers. If, as the seller claimed, the frame was originally built for the Sales Manager's wife, why wouldn't they have used the best available components? (But they might have thought that the Lambert parts were best? I have Lambert front & even a rear derailleur and brakes and levers, but they might not be rugged enough for everyday use?)

Did you see this from theformeremployee regarding your question about your mixte? When Trusty bought the entire business, Chambers recruited Peter Britton as Export Manager and he took me on as his assistant. Peter never commissioned such a bike - Barbara wasn't into cycling and I didn't have a wife ! I'd imagine this MAY have been a bike which Bob Thom had made for his wife Jean, who was a cyclist. When ? Maybe when they were in the States Who made it ? Knight Fabrications, for a bet. Why Lambert equipment ? Why not ? But does it have the Lambert derailleurs ?

How did I miss it? Some interesting history and possibilities. The frame is fillet brazed - so I would assume Trusty made it - and has a Viscount Club sticker. Who were Knight Fabrications? FWIW, the seller assured me that the (Linden?) green colour is original. It looks the same colour as my Potters Bar made Aerospace 600ex. But Viscount are believed to have stuck to standard RAL colours, so that doesn't mean anything really. The obvious thing is to build it up with all Lambert parts, as far as possible, and even the Simplex red plastic RD, but I fancy doing something a bit different - nothing irreversible after all!

The link to that green frame doesn't show up anymore. It looked quite close to Linden green 600ex colour.

I know photos can be deceptive, but now looking closely that looks a bit darker than the Linden green on my 600.
