When I came to work yesterday, my colleague said that he'd seen a Viscount a few roads away. By the description it was probably a Metro, which he admitted was quite cute. It happens occasionally that people report having seen Viscounts, and they seem to look closely to describe the bike to me. I find it rather wonderful as their awareness rises. Anyone else experiencing these things?

After being propelled to be sad in another thread by the thought of where all our Viscount-loving is getting the marque, I should say that amongst my bikeyfriends there is definitely an increasing awareness. One still says "Visscount" (bless) but they all ask after them like they're my kids. And yes, they tell me when they see one on eBay. Less so on the street here though. I've seen exactly two on the road in the last 5 years!

My lbs merrily continues to take the piss out of me for my love for Viscounts and they also tease me by saying Visscount. lol I take it gladly, as I know that they really like the red flash and the Pro. I'm pretty sure they'll be in awe when they see my rally bike. Ha!I'm pretty sure that I'm leaving an impression when people look at my bike and I explain what's so special about them (to us Viscount lovers). It takes knowledge to appreciate those bikes.
Read your thread and felt a bit sick. Unfortunately that seems to happen when people get greedy.

Whilst training at the Calley Arms after my quick "ride" along the Ridgeway yesterday, three mtbers were admiring Viscount Frank. The older of the group remembered the marque and said,"didn't they have strange bottom brackets?" After I'd educated them on the pros and cons,(pardon pun mode!),they agreed they were fine machines, and British! Cheers, Pete.

My experience is that people first look at the bike as 'ah, it's a typical old machine', then they start looking a bit closer and I love watching their faces, the wonder, the light in their eyes when the bikes reveal their genius: the fillet brazing, the sealed bearing hubs, the BB, the derailleurs, the chain sets and, finally, the weight.

Pete, Hope you didn't enlighten the MTB riders of the beer divining qualities of our beloved marque, otherwise the prices will rocket uncontrollably.
Hic,
