Not a Viscount but a good bike (Reynolds 531) in the New Forest and great value (I would say) at £99. The blurb says: 'Vintage late 70's Claud Butler Majestic Mixte road touring bike, Reynolds 531 22" frame/forks, Suntour VX 10 speed gears with down tube shifters, 27" alloy QR wheels, Esge mudguards, rack, Bluemels pump, GB bars stem, Silstar chainset, Weinmann centre pull brakes. It hasn't been used for donkeys years, has rust spots here and there on the frame and some chrome bits, plus the tyres are perishing. We have cleaned and checked it over and got it all working again - so you can use it as it is or perhaps fully restore one day. It was a good quality bike in it's day and could be again with some further tidying restoration.'

Good bike!
The position of that back brake is a very solid design. I imagine it handles very well too.

It avoids the sharp bend for the brake cable. Perhaps manufacturers (like Viscount) use the seat stay position for all their other bikes and don't want to make the mixte different?
