I don't think that tandem is 1980's,more like 1950's.The lugs are as used on most tandems from about the 1020's onwards. The head set was used until the early 1960's by some builders.I suppose it's possible for a builder to have used old lugs he had in stock to build the frame. The tubing for tandems is usually alarger diameter than solo bikes,so I doubt that the tubing came from a Viscount. The wheel hubs are also rather old fashioned. I'd be interested to see a photo of the front bottom bracket from the non drive side to see if it has an eccentric fitted. Best of luck if you buy it. Cheers, Pete.

Quite a Frankenbike. Jim is right, the rear top tube says Aerospace G. P. Pete is right about many of the components being older, or at least clunkier. I think this bike was made up from parts on hand - a cut up fillet brazed Aerospace frame or two, ancient lugs, two mismatched cottered cranks, Pivo stems, and mudguards from your sister's three speed. Are those drum brakes front and rear? Definitely an adventure to build and ride.

Thank you both for the comments. I'd picked up on the cottered cranks but thought thumb-shift gear levers didn't look right either. I think I'll give it a miss.
Cheers, Jim
