I am cooking up a four day mini bikepacking tour for early summer. If anyone is interested, let me know. Plans are very flexible. The tentative, but carefully considered, route is mapped here:
The index map provided by RideWithGPS is not very clear but the detailed maps listed below it are good.
Day 1: My house in Holliston MA to Miles Standish State Forest in Carver MA - 62 miles. Day 2: Carver, MA to Nickerson State Park in Brewster, MA - 54 miles. Day 3: Brewster, MA to Provincetown, MA - 31 miles, Provincetown-Plymouth ferry, Plymouth ferry terminal to Miles Standish State Forest in Carver MA - 11 miles. Day 4: Carver to Holliston - 62 miles.
The route uses lightly trafficked roads and the entire length of the Cape Cod Rail Trail.
Early summer during the week, as opposed to on the weekend, would be best. Camping is much easier to schedule on short notice during the week. Unfortunately late summer brings mosquitos carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis in this part of the state. Sometimes the state parks and camping areas are closed for that reason. Yes, another plague to deal with.

Now that sounds like a great plan and something I wish I could do. I've thought about the Cape Cod Trail ever since were at Woods Hole two years ago and that's not far off from that. We were planning a later trip to New England later this year but that has been replaced by a Yellowstone/Grand Teton trip at the end of July. So I'm afraid any hope of a New England excursion is out for this year.
I do wish you a great ride and adventure. Please keep us updated with this and other plans.
Best, John "wheelson"
