This winter I have been using a 1978 Raleigh Super Grand Prix, "super" because they put high end components on a Grand Prix gas pipe frame. I have put about 1000 miles on this bike since buying it for $30 and refurbishing it but have never liked the geometry or weight. It is a chore to ride so it will be stripped for parts. The good news is that it is equipped with Raleigh branded Suntour V-GT Luxe/Suntour V-Comp derailleurs, Suntour ratchet shifters, nice hubs, brakes, and crankset. I have a 1972 green Raleigh Super Course (butted Reynolds 531) that was equipped with plastic Simplex derailleurs and a steel cottered crank. I think it would be the perfect destination for the Raleigh branded components.

Sounds like a good idea Brian.
Some bikes just don’t do it for you do they, then others surprise you. In fact, that’s how I arrived at Viscount.
Be interested to see some pics of the Super Course.
