Too all: I have my Dad's early 70's Lambert frame. I really don't want to trash it. It is a 21.5 in. He bought it in 1973 or 1974 when he and I were riding/racing (I was a teen). As soon as the news came out of the weak aluminum fork he had it replaced with a chrome steel one. I have no idea what it is worth, I'm willing to give it away just for the shipping cost. I am located in the US in North Carolina (NE corner). The bike is completely disassembled, I also have the cranks, pedals, brakes, derailleurs, handlebars and other. Andy Brothers Kitty Hawk, NC (Where the Wright Bros flew the 1st airplane).

Andy, That’s a very nice offer. As to the question of value, a similar group, frame plus components at a minimum would go for $100 US plus shipping on eBay. Individual components perhaps $25-50. I don’t know your needs or circumstances, but you COULD reassemble the bike, ride it occasionally, and have great fun here on this forum! That has been a very pleasurable experience for me. Wheelson, thanks for your reply!
Well, my problem is I already have too many bikes! An old 70's Gitane "Tour de France" that I crashed in the 1974 Junior National championship in Pontiac, MI. Forks bent, installed new, It's now a fixy! It's replacement was a 1974 Teledyne Titan Titanium frame. Mostly Campy, I used Dia Comp "Campy copies" (My term) to save a little. Ok, 2 more! About 10 years ago I tried to get back riding and bought a new 2010 Cannondale Caad 9. Aluminum frame made in USA. Very nice road bike light years ahead of my older two bikes! And finally a Trek mountain bike.
So you can see I don't need any more bikes!

So you can see I don't need any more bikes! Andy, hang around this forum for a while and you will see that need has little to do with it.

Amen to Brian’s point! At 72 years old and in less than spectacular health, I cannot justify most of my bikes either. Let’s see, one for nice days, one for commuting, one for rail trails, one for bike camping, . . . Multiples for classic and modern. Then there’s the darn Lambert/Viscount thing, five and counting. Yes, it’s difficult to justify but bikes have been my life, wrapped around and invading my engineering career. Or was that career just a pastime?! I’ll admit I was sorely tempted by your offer but hoping you or someone will rescue this gem. Best, John “wheelson”

I forgot my three "Highway 12" Outer Banks bikes, a '92 Cannondale H600, an '80s Specialized Allez, and an '80s Nashbar 6000T. Yes, we've vacationed on the Outer Banks and Sandbridge, VA almost every year since 1975.
I'm seriously hoping you'll decide to keep this bike and hang around here with us. But, if you don't and nobody else is interested, you can contact me offlist at wheelson2011 AT gmail DOT com and . . .

Andy, a generous offer but at least keep the frame; that bike is irreplaceable. If my dad had ridden with me, and I had his old bike, it would be my most prized possession. To have it, and even better to ride it, would be wonderful. At 70 I am an old fart and long for things that remind me of family members who have passed. Too many bikes; don't be silly; I have 20+ bicycles of which many are kept for nostalgic purposes. Again, don't let it go!
All the best
Jim

Absolutely agree with Jim. I many times run across this situation in the bike shop I contract with. I usually advise a customer wanting to rebuild a bike that the logical cost would be about half the price of a comparable new bike UNLESS there is a sentimental connection.
I too would advise keeping the frameset even if you don't want to do anything with it at this time. My Dad wasn't into cycling but I treasure things he owned, such as carpentry tools, and will pass these on to my son and grandson.
As far as bikes, I worked in an old-time bike shop back in the'60s and '70s, my first real job. My only bike from this time was sold to an engineering co-worker in the '90s. I MAY be able to get this one back and if I can I'll do it, even if it hangs as a frameset, and I'll remember the good old days as my riding days dwindle away.

Andy: As others have said, that's a very generous offer. IF you are certain you won't regret passing on a bike your dad rode, then I'm sure someone will be happy to accept the bike. However, once it's gone, it's gone. I wish I could get back some of the things I passed on earlier in my life, but that's not possible. Perhaps you've already evaluated this decision thoroughly, but if not, and especially if you are still riding, you might want to preserve it for your own use.

Hi Andy - If you still have the bike I'd be interested in shipping it 'home'?! Regards
