I've owned my Aerospace Sport for about 3 years and have lamented about the poor shifting and chain jamming when changing chainrings. My solution was simple. I just left it in the small chainring for fear of jamming. Whippet rode the bike last summer (DFR International) with explicit instructions to not shift the front RD for fear of causing bodily harm due to something other than a death fork failure. While removing a failed Kenda tire, suddenly the problem revealed itself to be something I'd never seen or considered before. I guess there's a first for everything. Can you spot it? IMG_0325

Can't quite tell from the pix (old person's eyes?). Could it be that the inner (closest to the spokes)cage is mounted backwards, that is the "hump" is facing rearward instead of forward?
I recently saw a bike that would not shift on the rear derailleur at all. Seems the shift cable had become clamped between the frame and the kickstand.

We have a winner! John, your eyes are working fine and you are correct! I would never have thought such a thing could be reinstalled backwards. I'm sure you could write a book one day on some of the things you've seen. I'm looking forward to fixing it and having some decent shifting to go along with the new tires....Panaracer Pacelas in black and tan of course.
