photos.app.goo.gl/jeHj4FHNHTiHVhuV6Hi, I'm new to the site and am hoping to get some help on identifying a possible Lambert frame. (photos in link above) It has an aluminium fork and is a mixture of lugs and filet brazing. No serial number that I can find. If anyone has any tips on how to identify the make or model that would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Karl.

Hi Karl, Thanks for posting - the short answer is , I don't know if it's a Lambert, and the frame number might not help anyway. The good news is, there are some knowledgeable folk of here who might know. It might take a few days, but someone will come back to you. What made you think it might be a Lambert to begin with? Jem

Thanks Jem, I've read about the "death fork" and I've got an aluminium fork on mine (if it's from the original bike) also the fact that Lambert went from lugs to weld, mine is a mixture of both. I'm on another forum and the name Lambert seemed to be the favourite as far as identifying the frame. I'd like to build it up, so I'm trying to identify it so I can get some decals and put it back on the road.

Well, the slope of the fork looks very 'dead fork' and the mix of lugs and brazed is a feature on some Lambert/Viscount, and it looks kinda right , but as I say, I am not sure as I don't own this model - but pretty sure someone will help. Just a thought but you might be better off buying a whole donor bike than hunt for individual parts..I know it sounds rather extreme but those porthole cranks that were most likely on a Lambert are getting interest from many retro cyclists not just us Lambert and Viscount people. Keep us posted!

That's good to know that some Lambert/Viscount have a mix of lugs and braze, you're the first one to say that, it was the element that seemed to be causing most confusion on another site. I'm not sure if I'll go with original L/V parts, just spent a good bit of money on getting a Mercian back on the road, so the budget is tight for this one. I'll update with some more photos when I get it built up more.

From some photos and info found on this forum I'm fairly sure that the frame and fork are a Viscount Victor. It has the same lug design on the head and is semi lugged. Is there anywhere I could find decals for this particular model?

Is there anywhere I could find decals for this particular model? In 2015, I ordered decals from VeloCals in Arlington, Texas, which arrived as a set like this: Victor decal set by RMT@261, on Flickr I actually used all except the Victor badges on my Sebring: IMG_4359 by RMT@261, on Flickr To my embarrassment now, I bombarded JR Anderson (the proprietor?) at velocals@gmail.com with emails detailing my requirements for: the shade of gold surrounds to the head badge shield; the colours I wanted on the seat tube stripes; sent him an image of the Victor top tube logo from another forum member's photo for VeloCals to reproduce; and badgered him to send the decals to a friend's holiday address in Florida so that I could dodge the overseas postage. Mr Anderson was unfailingly polite throughout our correspondence and produced a set of decals of the very highest quality for me. It might not be the cheapest way to finish off a re-build in the UK, but it felt like money well spent with a true professional.

I've seen Viscount decals on ebay pretty cheap but they don't have any for a Victor, just Viscount aerospace and head decal. I'll have a look at VeloCals thanks for the heads up.

I bought a 1" headset for the Victor but the bottom cup (fork side of the head) doesn't seem to fit. I had no problem getting the top one (stem side) but the bottom end of the head seems to taper on the inside. Anyone any thoughts or experience with this or know anyone with such experience? Should I start a thread? Also has anyone any thoughts on a bottom bracket, I'm thinking of putting a double chain set on the front.
