Hi,Hope All are Doing well.!Just joined Rt Now .lol Found My bike in the Trash almost Dead but not Quite. White mid size frame. I did see what I thought was Red overspray, hints of long faded two tone? Tourney brake pulls,Titleist Rear derailleur,Gt the Cool Sprocket (Lambert) Sr neck ,and One of the Versions of the death Fork. Does have some Rust but not bad. Bike was a Basket Case. After Researching the Bike I decided to go and Pay Someone to Go Thru it.It was completely Frozen top to bottom so $500 New Tyres, BB bearings, bar tape upgraded Pads and lots of Cleaning Components And General Overhaul. I Didn't want to Repaint or overpolish anything. Bike now has been Mechanicly Restored with All it's OG components and A lite cleaning to the Surface Rust on the Frame. I walked to the Bike Shop to Get her and Soo Much Fun on the Bike Path Home..Just Wanted to Say Hi and Share My Story. All the Aluminum has 20 yrs worth of oxidation, looks Cool. Apears to be an Gran Prix from looking thru the threads. The Smaller it Seems.Perhaps an 55 cm Aero Pro ? So Ya,$500 to Bring back to life a Bike worth $250 lol,. I have Another Very Clean one I Just came across coming in a week. Thanks to Mark's Bike Shop ,RC ,KaliforniA, Pix in Photo Thread,Cheers.!

Cheers to you, knukledragr, and welcome aboard.
it sounds as if you have a fillet brazed frame, no lugs at the joints? If so, yes, that's likely a Grand Prix, originally white with red trim on the head and seat tubes. Cruise through the various threads and you'll likely find a lot of talk about these frames. The Aerospace Pro versions used the same frame as the Aerospace Grand Prix, the paint was just a tad different and the parts were of the more expensive variety on the Pro models.
Yes, it seems a bit much to spend $500 in one lump on a $250 bike, but hey, the one you found hadn't been ridden in a few decades, it sounds like, so if you average the cost over 20+ years of normal wear and tear, it's quite the deal. At least you can't blow the $500 on the ponies (HA).
Enjoy your rides!
best regards, Frank
