Hi, first post, but I hope it is of interest, I've recently bought from a third party selling on a 'garage clearance' set of bikes and parts for someone downsizing and moving out of the area. So I have no info about its origin, but the third party did say if he makes contact again, he will ask. Therefore I am just wondering if anyone can add any further background info, I believe it is a Barry Chick built track bike from 1969 ( from serial number ), the wraparound stay and reinforced rear brake bridge point to 69, and I have a 1970 Shorter that I am reasonable sure Barry Chick built which has a similar wrapover stay. It is a true track bike, high BB, undrilled fork and rear brake stay, and is very light. The Viscount decals are from 1979/80 when I believe Viscount started there team, so I'm guessing Barry Chick ( from Barnet near Potters Bar ) was asked to provide x number of track and road bikes, and this may of been one of them, the wheels and crank may not be original, but it has a dura ace headstock and stem which fits in. I don't believe it was used in anger, as most of the track photos show the track frames with the then fashionable brazed in rear stays. So what is it, possible 'team pool bike' or just a made up Tribute bike, any thoughts would be appreciated, it really doesn't matter because in my eyes its still a stunner. Thanks Terry I don't seem to be able to load piccies, the forum has reached its maximum ? So it can be viewed here - www.flickr.com/photos/tk_photos/47369944602/in/album-72157677315065187/

Welcome Terry, Agree that it is a very cool bike and a missing link to Viscount history to what usually turns up on these pages. Thanks for sharing a unique and very interesting find!

A very nice bike and a fascinating bit of Viscount history. Are the seat stays fully wraparound or only nearly? I ask because the earliest Lambert bikes had lugged frames with semi wraparound seat stays. Here are some pictures of such a frame (my gold one), one of which shows the seat cluster clearly. The origin of these lugged frames has always been a bit of a mystery (unless Steve - Busaste - has resolved it) - perhaps Barry Chick was the builder? - Although there must have been quite a lot produced as they aren't particularly rare even now (apart from the gold ones).

That is a full wraparound. Not like the lugged Lambert. Of course, people can vary their style of fabrication but it looks like my theory is a non-runner.
